Can a sport wagon be any match for a hyper car? Well, it looks like this custom Audi can take on a Bugatti Veyron. Let's take a look at the performance of both vehicles and see who will come out on top in a drag race. In 1993, Audi brought the RS2 Avant in as the first RS wagon. The RS2 was also referred to as the Audi 80 RS2 and it was a limited, high-performance, family-sized wagon. Now, Audi want to replicate that raw excitement with the arrival of the RS6 Avant in 2022, which comes with a healthy US$116,500 price tag attached to it.

The new Audi RS6 Avant will come to the United States in 2022 with the price tag starting at US$116,500. With 591hp and 590lb-ft of torque, an acceleration of 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, the RS6 is already impressive. The fact that the US Audi website states beneath the 0-60mph figure, tongue in cheek, to "Always obey all speed and traffic law", indicates the power this beast will offer with a top speed of 155mph. But do these statistics make the RS6 beast enough to take on the Bugatti Veyron in a drag race scenario? Comparing the two cars, on paper, it would appear it does not have what it takes. This is where a little help from friends might be useful.

Customizing a car can enhance it in many ways. From cosmetic improvements to incredible performance and handling improvements, these customizations can be tailored to suit the owner of the car and are not standard enhancements. Every change to a car is down to the requirements and desires of the individual client.

However, for the likes of Audi, who wanted to bring a powerful road car to 2022, that would be able to challenge a supercar like the Veyron, they went to customization specialists, Pacific German and VF Engineering. Both based in California, these two companies have a wealth of experience with lots of sports car manufacturers. Pacific German specialize in upgrading sports cars, using their superior technical resources. VFE manufacture top-quality and reliable superchargers, ECUs (engine control unit) and TCUs (telematic control units).

Superchargers are essentially air compressors, and they increase the pressure that is supplied to the ICE (internal combustion engine). This process provides each intake cycle of the engine with more oxygen. By letting it use more fuel and doing more work, greater power output is generated.

The current RS6 due for release next year is already an incredibly quick car with great performance and handling for a family car. So, how has the influence of Pacific German and VFE lifted the RS6 to a challenging car to compete with the mighty Veyron? After the special touches applied by Pacific German and VFE, the RS6 goes from 591hp to a mouth-watering 1,000hp, comparable with the Veyron. Torque has also increased from 590lb-ft to 750lb-ft and the car will be able to roar from 0-62mph in an eye blink of 2.7 seconds and will see its top speed reach 210mph, allowing the RS6 to easily keep its place in the fast lane of motorways without having to yield to the usually quicker Porsche 911 Turbos.

What Upgrades Have Been Applied To The RS6?

The RS6 has benefitted from several upgrades and enhancements in other valuable performance areas, with a TTE turbo upgrade, heavyweight intercoolers, the addition of an Eventuri air intake kit and a re-mapped ECU. Credit for the deep growl of the engine has to go to Akrapovic with their superior titanium exhaust. Like Pacific German and VFE, Akrapovic is a company that will not compromise on standards, quality and performance. Their all-titanium exhaust is made in Slovenia, the country where Akrapovic was founded. Using their own, exclusive, titanium that is more expensive to produce, it does mean that every part of the exhaust will be heat-resistant and that its structure will remain stable throughout its life.
