A Honda Civic probably does not sound like the sort of car that could pump out 2,000 hp from a twin-turbo V8. And normally, that would absolutely be the case. This though is not a standard Honda Civic. Automotive YouTuber Larry Chen recently got a close up of a Civic built up by Thomas West, that is actually a bit of a Corvette/Civic Frankenstein build. And their aim is to get it to hit 6 seconds in the 1/4 mile, and take on the fearsome Hoonicorn and Lia Block.

The Main Details Behind This Civic

There are, of course, some highlight features of this Civic. Essentially, the car has a Chevrolet Corvette C5 based drivetrain. So the engine sits in a TRZ C5 cradle, although the control arms have had to change as the Civic front-end is quite narrow. When it comes to the power, adding in the nitrous this car has, there is the potential for this V8 monster to make 2,000 hp. The most West and his team have had it run at so far is 1,500 hp, but that was with a different engine.

The Quirks Of The Car's Interior

Remarkably, this Civic still has as much of the stock interior as possible retained. The car has its turn signals, brake lights, and more, but the windows are still all glass. The windows are still power windows, and the doors still have their stock panels in it. The floor was even fully recarpeted before they touched anything else. And when Chen asks why the Civic was actually chosen, West simply says that the Civic is a car that he has always loved.

The Ultimate Aim For This Car

West and his team at Renegade Racing ultimately want to see this car take on the Hoonicorn Mustang in “This vs That.” The series currently sees the 1,400-hp Hoonicorn Mustang take on various challengers with Lia Block, Ken Block’s daughter, at the wheel. West and his team hope that this car could pull the 1/4 mile in a very crazy six seconds. So this could mean that the Hoonicorn is about to face some of its stiffest competition yet. Given the car is also rear-wheel drive, it’ll be crazy to watch it try and get all of that power down.
