The Panther Edition represents a beautiful example of the Audi R8 dressed in crystal effect paint. Released on December 2, 2020, just 30 examples of the R8 Panther will be produced. The limited-edition model derives its name from the Panther Black paint that gracefully adorns the aggressive chassis.
Audi has incorporated various subtleties and performance elements that give the Panther agility when on the prowl. The luxury interior pulls together the R8’s distinguished theme while giving it tons of personality. Numerous design elements mesh with performance engineering to make the 2021 R8 Panther a truly striking, limited-edition Audi.
Special Edition "Panther" Design
One of the most visually appealing features of the R8 Panther is its “crystal effect paint”, in a shade of Panther Black. The rear view mirrors are encased with carbon fiber, and Audi badges are painted in a midnight black. An Exterior Package fits the engine compartment with carbon fiber as well. Bright LED headlights and illuminated door sill accents create a stunning contrast against the blacked-out exterior.
Standard Features And Interior
Summer performance tires come standard on this special edition Audi. The 10-spoke 20” wheels are milled and coated with matte black paint, accentuated by red trim. This color contrast is matched on the R8 Panther’s interior, which incorporates Crimson Red and black leather upholstery. As with the exterior, a Carbon Fiber package is available for the high-gloss surrounds, center console and air vents.
Other standard features on the R8 Panther include the Audi MMI Navigation Plus system, virtual cockpit, smartphone interface and phone box with signal booster. The 550W sound system is provided by Bang & Olufsen and has 13 speakers. Drivers can easily control the engine, Audi drive select modes and exhaust via the steering wheel.
5.2L V10 Engine And Rear-Wheel Drive
The R8 Panther Edition derives 532 horsepower and 398lb-ft of torque from a naturally aspirated, 5.2L Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) V10. This engine was designed with piston performance that nearly tops Formula One cars. The company states that each piston can travel 88.3 feet per second. According to Audi, the car has a top speed of 201mph and can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.6 seconds. A sport exhaust deepens the growl of the V10, a system that can be configured by the user directly on the steering wheel.
The chassis has been engineered for rear-wheel-drive capability and incorporates solid rear axles. The negative camber in the rear has been augmented, and a bolstered front roll bar was added for stability. Handling is enhanced with electromechanical power steering, combined with a control-rich steering wheel.
Set For Delivery In December 2020
Extremely limited and distinguished, the R8 Panther Edition will be delivered to dealerships in December 2020, starting at an MSRP of $183,000 (not including a $1,495 destination charge and $1,700 gas guzzler tax). From its Napa leather and Alcantara interior to its aggressive stance, the R8 Panther Edition will bring distinct character to Audi's 2021 lineup.
