The competition that Rivian has to face is still a couple of years behind when it comes to a full production version of any other electric truck.

Rivian believes in the philosophy of ‘Under promise and over-deliver’. The R1T Has taken the world by storm thanks to its immense capabilities, loads of technology, and being tremendously practical all around. The vehicle service started reaching their customers just in the recent months after it was unveiled back in 2021, but the company has hiked the prices of its models by nearly 20%, surprising people around the globe.

Rivian has raised the prices of its all-electric pickup truck, the R1T, by nearly 17% as the automaker is trying to adjust for inflation globally. The inflation has resulted in an increased price for raw materials and other important components of the vehicle, like the microprocessors and semiconductors, of which the entire automobile industry is facing a shortage. The price increase is also a part of Rivian's bigger plan to introduce a new dual-motor version of the pickup truck in 2024. The vehicle was previously priced at $67,500, but due to the hike the vehicle now costs over $84,000. Initially, the price increase was rumored to be affecting the majority of the customers who had pre-ordered or reserved the truck via the online portal, however, in a statement from the carmaker, this price increase does not apply to customers that pre-ordered before March 1st, 2022.

Customers who were already in the final steps of completing the transaction for the pickup truck can proceed with the payments at the old price. The chief growth officer of the company stated that the pricing for the revision vehicles was drafted way back in 2018 and since then the average transaction price for new cars has risen nearly 37% to keep up with the increasing demands of the customers. The prices of the pickup truck have been revoked. Rivian claims that it is going to start the production of the dual-motor version of the pickup truck in 2024 and the vehicle is expected to have a 260 miles standard range.

The R1T Produces nearly 835 HP and does 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 3.3 seconds. The dual-motor version of the pickup truck produces nearly 600 HP, which is still a class-leading figure for a vehicle of this size and capability. The vehicle is powered by a 128 KWh large battery pack that has a driving range of nearly 314 miles. The R1T will also be offered with a max battery that is expected to arrive next year and will give a range of nearly 400 miles. The vehicle can tow up to 11,000 pounds and has a payload capacity of over 1,700 pounds, although making use of its maximum capability the driving range is reduced significantly. The vehicle supports DC fast charging and can gain up to 140 miles of range in under 20 minutes. The power figures and the performance figures of the R1T are in nearly supercar territory, and it is shocking to see something big move so fast.

The design of the Rivian R1T is clean, sophisticated, and the overall stance of the vehicle looks rugged and purposeful. The vehicle has an LED light bar at the front and back, which runs the entire length of the vehicle. The wheel size is 21 inches, which is standard and goes down to 20 inches as a part of the off-road pack. The vertically stacked headlamps and flush door handles add more style to the R1T. The interior of the Rivian R1T feels like an amazing place to be as there is no use of leather anywhere in the cabin, instead the vehicle makes use of vegan materials to promote sustainability. The R1T also has two giant screens, a central 16-inch screen houses climate control and connectivity features, and the 12.3-inch driver’s display delivers all the driving data like speed, charge status, and drive mode. The bed of the pickup truck features two 120-volt power outlets along with an air compressor. Overall the vehicle is feature-packed and utilitarian keeping in mind the task this vehicle is supposed to undertake, the odd thing about the interior of the vehicle is that it misses out on some basic features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay entirely. These features are not even offered as an option.

The Rivian R1T is an astounding pickup truck and is the first in line for the next generation of all-electric pickup trucks. Although the hike in price recently has led the customers in a dilemma since the vehicle already costs a ton and the prices going even more north has just made the entire situation much more tricky for the consumers.
