However, the XJ220 does top the charts when it comes to the most outstanding Jaguar builds of all time. This car, to an extent, set the bar for most modern supercars. The Jaguar XJ2200 made its debut in 1988, and by 1992 it was already rolling off the production line.

This car in production from 1992 to '94. During these two years, only 281 units were built. All these cars were manufactured and assembled in Oxfordshire.

Under the hood of the Jaguar XJ220 sat a 3.5-liter V6 engine that was paired with a five-speed manual transmission. This powertrain pushed a whopping 542 hp output capacity and delivered 475 lb-ft of torque. All this power was routed to the XJ220’s rear-wheel-drive drivetrain.

The top speed of this ride was 212.3 mph. This speed was set at the Nardo track in Italy. From 1992 to late 1993, the Jaguar XJ220 held the title of fastest production in the world. Before diving into the price points of the Jaguar XJ220, it is only right if we touch on how this car changed hands. When Jaguar first unveiled the XJ220 concept in 1988, it featured a massive V12 engine. This engine posed a whole lot of problems when it comes to emission regulations and engineering, so this saw Jaguar downsize the engine to a V6.

This move did not deter Jaguar enthusiasts. Over 1,500 put in deposits for their XJ220 before it even went into production. However, when the recession hit, most of these buyers pulled out their money. And with the lowered demand for expensive supercars, Jaguar had to think fast before rolling out any cars.

With 281 cars built, the XJ220 was not only a supercar but a limited supercar by default. One of the XJ220 built that was on sale in April 2021 is a 1993 XJ220. This is the number 237 XJ200 out of the 281 cars built.

The first owners of the 237th XJ220 were from Switzerland. This ride was later imported to the United States at different times for a number of show and tell events. The only year it was not brought in was 2001. This car was later sold to a private collector, where it remained until 2015, when it was resold.

During this sale, this Jaguar XJ220 had 1,667 miles in it. And in 2021, when it was put up for sale, it had 1,871 miles. Astonishingly this build has never been officially registered in any country.
