SUVs are becoming more popular day by day and have become some of the most demanded vehicles in the automotive industry. From more compact crossovers all the way up to giants like Jeep Wagoneer and GMC Yukon, these spacious family-friendly cars seem to dominate the market.

Chevrolet is one of the pioneers of the SUV game and has always tried to manufacture vehicles that define the principles of big cars, and it’s no different with the Chevy Tahoe. A staple name in the large SUV competition with its versatile characteristics. Excellent towing capacity, great interior design, and spacious cargo make this vehicle check every box.

On the other hand, Toyota has made it its mission to rebuild Sequoia’s image in the SUV market. Although being a reliable vehicle, the Toyota Sequoia wasn’t the car that was expected from a brand like Toyota. However, with the 2023 version of this car, it seems that the Japanese-based company has listened to the critics and tweaked elements of the old Sequoia.

Both cars come at around the same price range and aim to please the same audience, but let’s see how these two monsters stack up against each other.

The Chevy Tahoe uses a V8 engine just like its predecessors, and three engine options are available for the Tahoe. A 5.3-liter V8 capable of producing 355 HP and 383 lb-ft of torque. There is also a 6.2-liter with 420 horsepower pushing 460 lb-ft of torque for those who want to get more out of their Tahoe. The new addition to the lineup is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder that only outputs 277 HP but has a torque of 460 lb-ft, which equals that of the bigger V8.

All Tahoes come with a 10-speed automated transmission with either rear or all-wheel drive. The Tahoe has an acceptable acceleration, a solid brake pedal, and a surprisingly quiet cabin when driving recklessly. Adaptive dampers are also standard on the more premium options.

The newbie Sequoia features the iForce MAX hybrid engine, which is optional in the Tundra. A twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 and an electric motor work in unison in this vehicle to put out 437 HP and 583 lb-ft of torque. It also has a 10-speed automated transmission standard on it.

Rear-wheel drive comes standard on the Sequoia, but the four-wheel drive is optional on most models. The four-wheel-drive is standard on the top-of-the-line TRD Pro version. Off-road amenities like enhanced shocks, locking rear differential, front skid plate, and different 18-inch wheels come with the TRD Pro models.

The Chevy Tahoe has a larger-than-life interior. It has three very spacious rows in which people can lay in like it’s their bedroom. The Tahoe offers a lower and more leveled cargo floor owing to the independent rear suspension. The cargo space in the Tahoe when the second and third rows are folded gets to 123 cubic feet.

The Tahoe ensures that passengers have a calm and smooth experience. It accomplishes that objective with the help of a 10.2-inch display featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a personal WiFi hotspot. Alongside the tech features, it fits in an impressive Bose audio unit accompanied by two 12.6-inch screens installed in the back of the front seats.

The Japanese three-row giant also has a massive interior space. A second-row seat configuration fitting eight passengers is standard on the Sequoia, with the second-row captain’s seat being optional.

Depending on how much money you’re going to spend, you will get diverse interior trimmings. Different options can be seen across the board, from cloth to leather textures to wood and chrome trims. The more premium models come standard with warmed and cooled second-row benches, a panoramic sunroof, and also, as expected from a Japanese brand, a top-class stereo system.

Tundra’s 14.0-inch touchscreen has replaced the outdated Sequoia screen from the previous models. A set of smart new features like Wi-Fi hotspot and music-streaming services are also standard.
