When it comes to off-road cars, Land Rover might just be the kings, or at the very least they are right up there. Currently, part of the Jaguar Land Rover group, the company has produced some truly iconic off-roading cars, perhaps most notably the Land Rover Defender, which has recently undergone a major refresh over the original model. In more recent times, the brand has produced cars that lean more towards a luxury outlook and level of performance, but there is still some room for the company to produce some utterly incredible machines.

Even though by their very nature, they don’t need to be high performance, there is nothing wrong with taking an off-roader and making it as fast or as powerful as possible. And Land Rover has taken the Range Rover Sport and created the Sport SVR Ultimate Edition. This it turns out has become the most powerful Land Rover ever created. It is truly a very special machine, that still maintains the levels of luxury and sophistication that we have come to expect from Land Rover in recent years, and this is the full inside and out of this remarkable off-roader, how it became so powerful, and some of its more notable details.

What Makes It So Powerful

Let's take a look then at the basic stats for the new car and ultimately what makes the car so powerful. The Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that pumps out a pretty eye-watering 567 hp, which is enough for a fast 0-62 time of just 4.5 seconds. That is absolutely phenomenal performance levels from what is a large and heavy car, and even more impressive when you look at the top speed, which is 176 mph. Make no mistake, this is not a slow car at all.

The company claim that this is the fastest, most powerful, and most dynamic Land Rover that has ever been produced, this particular car being in its second generation. The first edition of the SVR was introduced back in 2014, with more than 20,000 of them being sold so far at the time of writing. The car has been built by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations, or SVO, so performance was always going to be the ultimate focus of this particular Range Rover. The levels of performance are more impressive when you see that the Ultimate Edition weighs 2,377 kg. That is a lot of car to be powered by a V8 engine! But as with every Range Rover, it isn’t just the outside and the internals that make this such a cool car.

Lack Of Tuning, But Plenty Of Craftsmanship.

It would be remiss for us to not mention that no further tuning has gone on with this engine, compared to the standard SVR edition. But that really doesn't matter. The SVO edition of Jaguar Land Rover knows a thing or two about power, but also a thing or two about craftsmanship, and we really need to discuss some of that. A lot of craftsmanship has gone into creating potentially the ultimate, bespoke Range Rover. When we step inside the SVR, we will find specially commissioned and chrome-finished SV Bespoke B-pillar badges that look pretty sensational. As well as that, there are black anodized metal gearshift paddles as well as Ultimate Edition illuminated treadplates.

Touching on the power again, it is interesting to see how far the stats of the Range Rover Sport have come since the 2020 model. When that edition of the Sport SVR was launched, Jaguar Land Rover claimed that it was the fastest Land Rover model ever produced. That edition of the car had 542 hp, so Land Rover has been able to squeeze more power out of the Ultimate Edition. Its 0-60 time was 4.7 seconds, whilst its top speed was 161 mph. So Land Rover has definitely made this the fastest and most powerful Land Rover ever built.

There are more bespoke details on this awesome car too. The Range Rover lettering on the hood and tailgate of the SVR Ultimate Edition is black knurled, and there is contrasting Fuji White edging that is also used on the side fender accents. This Fuji White contrast is again an exclusive feature to the SVR Ultimate Edition, to really help set the car apart from regular Range Rover’s and the other Sport versions of the SUV. 22-inch forged alloy wheels and black brake calipers really help to give the car a truly menacing look and appeal.

The Ultimate Land Rover And Range Rover

We think it is fair to say this is most definitely the ultimate Land Rover, even more so than the Defender, and the ultimate example of the Range Rover. You have to take a step back when you first see it and the specifications to truly believe just how special it is to get a car as this created. It's mind-blowing how much performance Land Rover has been able to squeeze out of this car. Bowler Motors, who have created some amazing rally-raid cars, had a major hand in making this car so powerful. Those performance figures would not look out of place at all on some sports cars, and indeed they are comparable to some sports cars of today and of the recent past. But Land Rover is fantastic at creating fast cars that are big, and provide unreal amounts of luxury, as is the Jaguar parent brand. Whilst SUVs are not for everyone, and that is perfectly understandable, this shows just how fast an SUV can be. This is also the final fling for the current Range Rover Sport, and there is no more powerful way to bow out.
