It is a rule for the leader of a country to be escorted in a bulletproof car with at least 5 cars. We have seen the collection of the Official State Cars Of Canada and obviously, the American production cars were leading the president's way.

Becoming a leader of the country will strip the joy of driving to work every day, but rather than being escorted wherever you go. With that being said let’s take a look at the car collection of North Korea’s Kim Dynasty.

The fancy Landaulets were a hot trend back in the 1960s. World leaders of the time had the Mercedes W100 600 as their landaulet of choice to drive around in public. The first leader of the dynasty Kim Il-sung, who was well-known for his affection for Mercedes-Benz, started the official state car collection of Mercedes landaulet.

Let's see the car collection from the first leader to today’s motor trend.

Back in the 1960’s the Mercedes Benz W100 600 was a hot car only rich people could afford. With a price tag of around $22,000, the car was the fastest for its time and carried a lot of luxury inside. The first leader Kim Il-sung was so in love with this car that he had a very special one.

It is known that there were around 3 very special Mercedes Benz W100 600 that were built solely for the dictators of the time. Enver Hoxha the dictator leader of Albania got one, Kim Il-sung got one too and the third one is known to never hit the road. These Mercedes Benz W100 600 had 6 doors, a taller roof, and the leader would sit on the opposite side of where people would expect him to be.

Under the hood, the car was powered by a 6.3L V8 petrol engine that produced 247HP. It is also a fact that these cars were bulletproof and packed technology some cars do not have by 2021. The rear seats where the leader would sit are heated, and electronically adjustable, something you don’t quite often see in today's cars. Both Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un have continued to use these W100 landaulets for ceremonial occasions.

The Mercedes Benz W140 is perhaps one of the most popular cars among the official state collection of countries around the world. We have seen many leaders use the W140 since its official release in 1992.

The W140 of the Kim Dynasty was a 500 SEL, powered by a 5.0L V8 that produced 330HP. The W140 would fly the North Korean flag on the 2 fenders at the front and drive the leader comfortably surrounded by other Mercedes Benz's of the time, the E240. As we knew the motorcade must be led by a car, which mainly was the W140 Mercedes.

Fun Fact: The first leader of the dynasty had such great affection for Mercedes Benz cars that he entombed a W140 500 SEL to the temple where his body lies today.

The arrival of the new successor after the death of Kim Il-sung didn’t make the car collection any different, the new leader chose the Maybach 62s as its favorite landaulet. The initial release of the Maybach in the early 2000s set the bar for high-end luxury vehicles, something that would not be out of North Korea's official car collection eye.

This particular car was powered by a V12 twin-turbo engine producing 604 hp. The car features the same engine as the Maybach 57S and was first seen when Kim Jong-un went to visit Vietnam along with his cars such as a Maybach 62 S.

Other honorable mentions would include the Audi A6L which is used to escort the leader of North Korea as of right now, Kim Jong-un. Talking about Kim Jong-un we also need to mention his beloved third-generation Range Rover which he is seen being escorted with after a flood in a North Korean Village.

Of course, the S600 Pullman is a little low for flooded villages, we also have to mention other honorable cars like Mercedes Benz E class and Lexus GS.
