Before the EB110, Bugatti had folded up for almost a decade. Only a few of their cars before the EB110 were still in vogue. Following the likes of the Type 50i, Type 57SC, 1933 Type 59 Grand Prix, and the Bugatti Cockpit Type 43 among other Bugatti productions in the 1950s and the 1960s, the company attempted revival by producing a few other cars like Type 101 and Bugatti type 251 but did they not survive.

Fast forward to when Romano bought the company in 1987 (re-founded as Bugatti Automobili S.p.A.), with his experience as a manufacturer; he knew the production new 'Bugattis' would be a welcome idea. So he felt the EB110 needs to stand on its own with an outstanding fashionable design. He employed Marcello Gandini for the first design and later to bring out outstanding work, Nicola Materazzi and Paolo Stanzani. This trio worked together to bring out the first production in 1991 as a sports car.

Widely accepted, the EB110 drew the attention of so many wealthy motorists back then; that the Bugatti company felt the need to produce more series'. The company made EB110 SS six months later.

Bugatti produced only 139 units of the EB110. It should be noted that the name EB110 was used to mark the 110th year of Bugatti and the 'EB' stands for the initials of its founder, "Ettore Bugatti."

Features Of The Bugatti EB110

This two scissor doors car came with a rear mid-engine, six-speed manual transmission, and 3.5-liter V12. It had 560 HP/411 kW at 8,000 RPM for the GT series and 611 HP/ 450 kW at 8,250 RPM.

In Style, the Bugatti EB 110's major outline is its broad, flat surfaces, with the horizontal dimension with lines boldly drawn from the front to the back.

Smaller side intakes stretch up and out through outlets near the corner of the headlight housing, the headlight themselves use square-shaped housing. The stock wheels are from BBS and use a seven-spoke design and race-inspired center-lock with an alloy construction.

When you settle in the cockpit, the first thing you will notice is the tight cabin compartment with the characteristics you'd want from a super sports car. The cabin comes equipped with nice features such as hide upholstery and wood trim, which is in line with how Bugatti produces.

Just behind the steering wheel is a set of analog gauges with a center-mounted tachometer and speedometer on the right. Impressively without any doubt, the quarter-mile is completed in the low 12-second range at around 120 MPH.

Under the skin of the Bugatti EB110, there is a carbon fiber chassis. Responsible for its production was Aerospatiale, a French-owned aerospace manufacturer that makes aircraft, rockets, and satellites for both civilian and military applications. The curb weight for the EB110 is about 3,570 lbs.

Competitors Of The EB110

One of the major competitors of the EB110 is the McLaren F1 car. This car surfaced in 1992, also with scissors doors and an exotic design, as well as an attractive look that makes it closely similar to our EB110.

This F1 is a major innovation of its day, with a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis that gives it a definition of a race car that has a whole lot of vibes. Behind this McLaren F1 is a V-12 engine producing as much as 627 HP, while the EB110 has about 610; this car set a new top speed record among the F1 counterparts.

Another competitor to look out for is the almighty Jaguar XJ220; this particular car was a major challenger to Bugatti EB110, which offers low stunt, hyperpower styling, similar doors with the EB110, and a 3.5-liter engine V6, which is supported by twin turbos to produce its power.

The only but with Jaguar is that its horsepower is not as much as that of the EB110 with it offering 540 HP. Though, if properly handled, it can reach a top speed of 212 MPH.
