For those of us who love the Toyota Land Cruiser, this week has been a good week. Because Toyota have finally launched the first all-new Land Cruiser since 2007 with the new Land Cruiser LC300, marking a new era for the popular off-roader and SUV. Whilst the car has undergone numerous generations over the years, this is the first time in nearly 15 years that an all-new model has been seen. For that reason, It's certainly quite a significant machine for Toyota.
Of course, with a new car comes some pretty new features, and there are plenty of them with the new Land Cruiser. And with new features comes one particular stand-out, what you’d call the coolest feature on the car. It is probably right then that we take a look at some key features on the new Land Cruiser and then talk about what we feel is the coolest feature to be included on the Land Cruiser LC300. The fact that this is the first Land Cruiser for many years is already pretty cool, and it certainly has the looks to go with it.
A More Fuel Efficient And Modern Land Cruiser
We've spent quite a while hearing about what the Land Cruiser may look like and what lies under the hood, but now of course we finally have the answers. It sounds a bit boring potentially and mundane, but the change in engine for the new Land Cruiser has certainly made things better, and it’s added a feature that was certainly absent on the previous model: efficiency. The problem with the last iteration of the Land Cruiser was that it was powered by a very thirsty 5.7-liter V8 engine that simply guzzled fuel at an alarming rate. The new Land Cruiser now features a twin-turbo V6 engine of either gasoline or diesel variety, instantly making better fuel mileage than the old, thirsty V8 engine, in a car that dwarfed anything else available at the time. Plus, it makes more power too. The new twin-turbo V6 in gasoline form makes 409 hp, 30 more than the V8 did.
Another cool feature is the new 10-speed automatic gearbox, which is undoubtedly an improvement over the 8-speed gearbox that could be found in the old Land Cruiser. All of these changes and features combine to make the new model much more pleasant to drive, and the extra efficiency is certainly going to help you out on long distance drives. However, new features are not confined to just the exterior. There is plenty going on inside the Land Cruiser, all of which helps to make this a vastly superior edition over what we have been used too for the last few years.
New Interior Features And Technology
The interior has been massively updated compared to the last Land Cruiser and features more modern technology and plenty of gadgets to make your driving experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. There is now Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration in the Land Cruiser, as well as wireless phone charging and a 360-degree camera. The infotainment screen is 9-inches but there is also the possibility for a 12.3-inch display to be added to the car as an option.
Moving away from all of this comes the new Safety Sense array from Toyota. This has all been implemented into the 2022 Land Cruiser LC300. The Safety Sense technology includes an adaptive cruise control to make long drives more comfortable, a lane-keeping assist to help you out on roads such as the interstate and an adaptive high beam control. All of these are aimed at making the driving experience in the new SUV just that little easier and more comfortable. The Land Cruiser even comes with a fingerprint authentication system! Of course, you will all be wondering what the coolest feature of the Land Cruiser is, and we are finally at that point.
The GR Sport Must Be The Coolest Feature
This probably isn’t what you were expecting to here. Surely, though, there can be no denying that the addition of the GR Sport to the Land Cruiser line-up is something extra cool and worth talking about. Even more so as Toyota didn’t really say anything about the long-rumored edition of the car. Instead, images were filtered into the press releases with images of what looks to be the GR Sport, and it is certainly distinguishable from the standard edition of the new Land Cruiser.
What The GR Sport Means
Toyota unhelpfully haven’t yet released any performance details on the GR Sport version of the Land Cruiser. Nor did they release any details about the car as a whole. They didn’t even mention it in the press releases. But it is clearly paving the way for a much more sporty version of the Land Cruiser in Toyota’s lineup, and there could even be the potential for future sporty SUVs from the company if the GR Sport edition proves to be a hit. The GR Yaris has certainly proved a hit with many all over the world. A sporty Land Cruiser is certainly the coolest feature with this new car, and it will be incredibly exciting to see where Toyota goes from here with this new edition, and it will no doubt continue to make the Land Cruiser a Toyota classic.
