There are various things in this world that seem like they are destined to be together. Peanut butter and jelly, salt and pepper, pineapple, and pizza; these pairings just simply work. Unfortunately, there are many more things that don't go together than those that do.

The auto industry has seen its fair share of collaborations, with each having its own unique set of results. Some of the more successful partnerships in the auto industry include Ferrari and Marlboro, Ford and Cosworth, and BMW and Toyota. Unlike these efforts, alliances that did not go so well include Ford and Firestone, Daimler and Chrysler, and the Haas F1 Team and Rich Energy.

While these joint ventures resulted in both amazing and dismal results, none of them are quite as interesting as the collaboration we will be discussing today: A Boeing 727 and a Mercedes-Benz Bus.

Love it or hate it, let's get into this science experiment gone wrong... or right.

It Started Life As A Luxurious Airliner

The quirky vehicle in question consists of various components from both a Boeing 727 and a Mercedes-Benz Bus. The limo's body consists of the shell of a 727 that has had its wings and tail clipped off. Despite the parts diet, the original staircase that folds into and out of the plane is still fully intact and usable. The chassis, steering, and gas tank are all sourced from the Mercedes Bus.

The odd contraption (dubbed the "Boeing Limo") was created in Guadalajara, Mexico, and has since made its way into the United States. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly who is responsible for the design. What we do know, however, is that a company called VACA Limousines is responsible for blessing the world with this glorious invention. Apparently, VACA is the most successful limo rental/design company in all of Mexico; therefore, it is likely they knew exactly what they were doing when designing the Boeing Limo.

Currently, the eccentric set of the wheel is owned and operated by Robert J. Strauser's (A.K.A. Limo Bob) LA-based company: Star Limo Service. Apparently, Strauser purchased the limo from VACA for around $275,000 and has held onto it ever since. Today, the bus/plane thing is once again on sale; however, this time it's for an eye-watering $1,000,000. If you don't have that kind of cash, do not fret; you can go to LA and rent the gargantuan vehicle for a small sum of $100,000 a month.

Despite the fact that the vehicle is 53 feet long and 24,000-pounds (and basically a plane on four road tires), the eccentric set of wheels is completely street legal. Because the vehicle still retains the turbo-diesel engine from the Mercedes Bus, it can supposedly drive as fast as 124 miles per hour (not recommended).

Additionally, Strauser specifically states that "despite how it might look, it’s a very safe vehicle". While that sounds like a very endearing statement, how much credibility a man known as "Limo Bob" has is another question that should probably be answered.

The Inside Is Basically A Night Club

As with all limos, the most important feature is the inside. Thankfully, the Boeing Limo does not disappoint in this department. For starters, the vehicle is able to shuttle its driver and 40 other people around in the same kind of comfort you would expect from a private jet.

Also similar to that of a private jet are the large array of amenities that are scattered throughout the inside of the limo. As you enter the area just behind the cockpit, you are greeted with a nice sunken lounge/living room area that is complete with a large television, full bar, and even a fireplace. There is also a single bathroom in this area in case one of your friends drinks a little too much champagne.

As you move further back, you'll be greeted with a dance floor that looks like something straight out of the late 90s. Strobe lights, laser lights, mirrored ceilings, and a fog machine are all a part of the functioning decor. As Auto Evolution rightly states: "The obvious goal of the design was to provide a drivable, rolling club for a party of 40".

Finally, at the very back is a private honeymoon suite of sorts. In there, you'll find a heart-shaped bed and an infinity mirror. This is great because nothing screams romance more than that of a jet limo that you rented from a man named Limo Bob.
