American designer John Sibal posted on Facebook page his renders of a sports car that does not yet exist. This car is a modern interpretation of the classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL. The S-Klub company decided to make the project become a reality. For them, it will not be the first restomod on a given theme. The tuner's project list includes a Porsche 550 Spyder replica built for last year's SEMA show.

Mercedes-Benz 300SL Restomod Features

John Sibal said that the main difference between the original and the projected sports car will be the hard roof. The restomod will be built like a roadster but will be equipped with a removable top. According to him, now S-Klub specialists are developing this component.

In general, the sports car is distinguished by a silhouette in the spirit of post-war sports cars with an elongated rear end, exhaust pipes brought out in front of the capsule of the cabin, and unusual, very compact doors. As in the previous model that they had released, this Mercedes-Benz 300SL changes the chrome bumper for a front spoiler at the bottom. The wheel arches have been widened at the front and rear. The car can boast huge rims on low-profile wheels.

The exterior is finished in dark green and the wheels are gold with chrome on the rims. The interior is sheathed in beige leather.

Some users in the comments section on YouTube and Facebook asked a question of how exactly the doors opening will be implemented. Renders do not give an answer to this question yet.

At the moment they have not announced which engine they will use for this restomod, nor a clear image of the interior. But judging by its design, it will certainly not be something simple at all. How about AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8? With the right modifications, it can exceed 1,000 hp, which would suit this car.

It is also not specified which car will serve as the basis for the construction of the restomod. The studio's previous project, the 300SL Speedster, was based on the Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG 32 series roadster with a 3.2-liter V6 compressor.
