Lamborghini is famous for its Aventador and Huracán supercars, as well as the Urus super-SUV. With super pickup trucks such as the Ram 1500 TRX becoming commonplace in the United States, some people wonder if the Italian carmaker would dare to create one. As to what a Lamborghini pickup truck might look like, HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel creates this exclusive render.

Updated March 2023: While the Lamborghini we know tends to dominate racetracks, we wanted to see how it does as a work truck. If this fortuitous event comes to fruition one day, we could expect to pay a ton of money for it, but how cool would it be if you can run to Home Depot in one of these? We also take a look at the most convincing off-roading Lambo yet, the Sterrato.

Rambo Lambo: A Super-Pickup That Was Not

Interestingly, Lamborghini actually produced what was technically considered as a pickup truck but completed and marketed as an off-road SUV – the LM002 a.k.a. Rambo Lambo. Borrowing the V12 engine of the Countach, the Rambo is a true Lambo with around 414 hp of max output and 369 lb-ft of peak torque. Each LM002 features an aluminum and fiberglass body and rides on specially developed Pirelli tires.

Nonetheless, it’s quite difficult to quickly recognize the LM002 as Lamborghini. This is simply because its exterior design is devoid of the various identifying elements present in Lambo supercars, especially the smooth angular design of the Countach and the Diablo supercars. But Adry’s renders of a Lamborghini pickup tell another story. This new concept is easily recognizable as a raging bull.

From the front end to the rear section, these rendered pickup trucks are without a doubt Lamborghinis. Almost every bit of the exterior screams Lamborghini, with the pickup looking like a mash-up of various elements from modern and older models. Hexagons and Y shapes dominate several areas, including the headlights and the fuel cover.

If the front section is all too familiar, it is. After all, this Lamborghini pickup borrows the front end of the Sian hybrid, which in turn borrows its headlights from the Terzo Millennio and its three-dot rear light from the Countach.

Nevertheless, this Lambo render comes with several pickup truck elements. These include its huge fenders, massive wheels and tires, truck bed, and a number of under body protection. It’s a double cab, by the way, which can accommodate extra passengers in the rear cabin.

Does Lamborghini Make A Pickup: Possible But Unlikely

It isn’t entirely impossible for Lamborghini to build its own pickup truck. It could borrow the platform that overall parent Volkswagen uses to underpin the Amarok. Lambo already has powerful engines, although it needs an engine with lots of torque. Going hybrid like the Sian is also a possibility.

Despite the possibilities, Lamborghini is unlikely to build pickup trucks after all as doing so might tarnish its image.

With the rise of the number of new niches getting created around the context of crossovers and SUVs, it wasn't going to be long until supercars got swept into the off-road zeitgeist.

Jacked-up sports cars and supercars are nothing new, and modern Dakar-inspired specials like the Porsche 911 Dakar might become more ubiquitous - especially as premium marques change-up their model lineups to include SUVs.

Lamborghini's upcoming Sterrato will give the Huracán a mildly jacked-up stance (1.7 inches), as well as some off-road-inspired drivetrain features and some extra exterior details that suggest ruggedness. While the Porsche 911 Dakar lists from $230,000 on Porsche's own website, the Lamborghini Sterrato will likely carry a price tag closer to $300,000.
