This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro hails out of Mundelein, Illinois, where it was built up into a hardcore restomod by Roadster Shop for customer Don Esbjornson. Restomods have skyrocketed in popularity lately, as they combine modern performance with classic style, though builds like this one are likely to prove somewhat divisive among gearheads. On one hand, the supercharged V8 under the hood is a serious plus; on the other, the overall looks with the gold wheels and weighty appearance might not be for everyone. But at the very least, this Chevy stands as another piece of inspiration for anyone that's considering whether a restomod might be on their list of projects in the near future.

Turn Up The Sound

In an extensive set of photos documenting the build, as well as the YouTube video above, the entire project proves just how much knowledge, expertise, and labor went into transforming this Camaro. The heart of the build lurks under the hood, where a 6.2-liter LT4 crate V8 has been dropped in. Built up with forged internals, the powerplant can now handle the 1.7-liter Eaton supercharger that's been bolted on and now pushes nine pounds of boost to create a claimed 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque.

That grunt is routed to the rear wheels through a Bowler T56 Magnum XL six-speed stick shift, while the booming sound of the powerplant comes thanks to custom-made exhaust headers. The chassis, meanwhile, is another Roadster Shop special and features independent rear suspension and tubular control arms.

Those wheels are Forgeline RS6 units that hide a six-piston braking system from Baer complete with 14-inch rotors. On the redone interior, a Grant steering wheel fronts a suite of Dakota Digital gauges, while a roll cage and climate control from Vintage Air have also been installed. The seats are Recaro and employ Sparco harnesses.
