There is no doubt that EVs are the future of mobility. It is now a matter of 'when' than 'how', and purists are slowly accepting their faith. Classic cars are the only ray of hope for purists as these beauties will be the last ones standing with raw emotional appeal when it comes to driving, and of course, an internal combustion engine!

Up until we bring Everrati - a UK-based electric conversion specialist into the picture. Love it or hate it, there are people out there who love the idea of packing modern bleeding-edge technology in classic tuxedos. And Everrati has embarked on a journey to make these controversial conversions with respect. They don't just slap on an electric conversion kit into their projects but make sure to give classic machines a modern touch, without taking away its essence.

For their latest project, Everrati has joined hands with American Continuation classic builder Superformance to give a modern twist to one of history's iconic sportscars - the Ford GT40. Their first conversion car is still in its prototype stage, but looking at their portfolio that includes fully electric conversions of the 964-generation Porsche 911 and the droll-worthy Shelby MK3-R Cobra, these guys are pretty serious and know what they are doing! An electric Ford GT40! Who would have thought!?!

Everrati is a famed conversion specialist whose expertise lies with classic cars and Superformance is the only licensed entity that can make replicas of iconic Fords, Corvettes, and Shelbys including the likes of Shelby Cobra, Corvette Grand Sport, and now the Ford GT40. Now, these two firms joining hands are going to bear fruit in the long term with many interesting classic EV conversions.

And the Everrati Superformance GT40 is just a peek at what they can do. Everrati's stable includes quite a handful of classics including the 964-generation Porsche 911, Land Rover Series 2A, and Mercedes-Benz SL W113 Pagoda. And Superformance has also teased an all-new EV converted Shelby Cobra MK3-E.

While the Everrati Superformace GT40 is still in its concept stage, the technical specs on the table are quite impressive. Everrati plans on packing a 46 kWh battery pack rated at an impressive 800 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque. As compared to the gasoline-powered Ford GT40 Mk2 that produces 485 HP and 350 lb-ft from a V8, the electric conversion is a bold and powerful step forward.

The beauty of electric power is its instant torque available from a standstill. Apparently, this will help the electric GT40 to do 0-60 MPH in under 4 seconds. Not much is known about the charging tech and time, but it will pack a combined AC and DC fast charging technology.

The Everrati Superformance GT40 will use the original steel monocoque chassis that relates a lot with the original. The chassis will be assembled in-house and Everrati is pretty serious about reviving the classic driver's appeal with the GT40. One main reason for the electric GT40 to be scrutinized as a concept is because of the powertrain layout. Everrati wants to position the battery pack just right, to not disrupt the weight distribution. All of its vigorous testings are being done on a former US airbase in the Oxfordshire countryside.

To complement its driving appeal, the electric GT40 will also get fully independent front and rear suspension with Bilstein coil-over progressive shocks with H&R Springs. You also get ventilated disc brakes on all 4 wheels with Wilwood calipers. And as a cherry on the cake, it packs an Active sound performance exhaust that mimics the original GT40 melody through internal speakers.

As for the exterior bits, Everrati plans on providing a special paint palette that includes multi-layer, matte-finish, and pearl effect options. You will also get an option to wrap it in the iconic 'Gulf Livery' with hand-painted decals and licensed by Gulf Oil International. The classic spoked wheels with a 3-spiked lock nut amplify its classic appeal and it also gets custom colored brake calipers. You can also spec it with an optional Gurney Bubble, front canards (aero bits), and rear snorkels.

It is impressive to see firms like Everrati go the extra mile to preserve the essence of these iconic machines. On the inside, this electric GT40 gets the original styled seats with silver rivets. The all-black theme puts on a very serious show. But fused into this classic layout is a high-capacity air-con system and the option to opt for custom audio upgrade options, a Car 5 alarm/ tracker system, and custom interior materials. And thanks to the option to opt for it in both RHD and LHD, this classic revival with a modern twist, will tickle a wider audience base.

On paper, the Everrati Superformance GT40 looks like a fine balance of modern technology and classic appeal. And with the level of work and effort going into making this GT40 a future classic, it sure isn't going to come cheap. While pricing is still under curtains, we expect the electric GT40 to hover around and over the $500,000 mark. This is because Everrati''s Porsche line-up starts north of $400,000 and this Ford is clearly more valuable than the Porsche.
