Earlier on this year, Chevrolet removed three 2021 colors from the Corvette in anticipation of some new ones coming for the 2022 model of the car. The colors that were removed were Shadow Gray, Zeus Bronze, and the highly popular Sebring Orange. Naturally, people everywhere will have been eager to find out what new colors are coming to the Corvette, especially after the choice of exterior options increased from 10 to 12 last year. An event at the National Corvette Museum has now seen the three new colors for the Corvette unveiled at the Michelin NCM Bash.

The new colors were also shared on the official Corvette social channels. They are Amplify Orange Tintcoat, which replaces Sebring Orange. There is Hypersonic Gray Metallic, replacing the Shadow Gray Metallic from last year and finally, replacing Zeuez Bronze Metallic comes Caffeine Metallic. As you might have expected, the reaction to the new colors was relatively mixed, and quite a few seemed a bit disappointed at the new choices on offer for 2022.

The Reaction To The New Colors Was Somewhat Mixed

One comment on the Corvette Museums post chirped sarcastically, “Good old Corvette. Really thinking outside the box here.” This was a general theme with the comments. Many felt that the new colors were just subtle revisions to the outgoing paint jobs for the sports car, and it could legitimately be argued that they are pretty similar, especially the orange. Sebring Orange will be a difficult color for the company to replace. It earned 6.8% of the overall Corvette orders last year, or fourth out of the 10 options available at the time. Given the similarities with the new color, orange will probably fare well again this time around.

Some Positive Comments Regarding The Corvette Colors

There were a few positive comments though regarding the colors. One person said, “Ohhh I LOVE the amplify orange! It reminds me of a 1st gen hugger orange Camaro.” No matter what is produced, however, colors will always be a very subjective topic and difficult to please everyone. But of course, there are plenty of other color choices available for those who don’t find the new ones appealing.
