By now, everyone in the automotive world knows that Tesla's electric vehicles have proven themselves as some of the best sprinters thanks to all-wheel-drive traction and the instantaneously available torque made possible by electric motors. Tesla may have given up EV supremacy to the Porsche Taycan (for now) but the four-door Model S can still hold its own against legit supercars. But how do Tesla's larger SUV models, the X and Y, stack up against a super SUV? Well, the YouTube channel Throttle House decided to find out and pitted the two big Elon Musk products against Jeep's Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

No Replacement For Displacement

Jeep's Trackhawk is yet another instance where Fiat-Chrysler has decided to drop the potent Hellcat V8 setup into another of its products. In this case, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 produces 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque and features Launch Control to help off the line—unlike the spate of Challengers and Chargers motivated by the powerplant, the Trackhawk also employs a four-wheel-drive system (it's a Jeep, after all). But the Trackhawk also pulls some weight, tipping the scales at 5,356 pounds.

Tesla's Models X and Y, meanwhile, can both seat seven and have proven themselves extremely capable of hard launches. In this case, both roll up to the line in Performance trim, which translates to a starting price of $99,990 for the Model X Performance and $60,990 for the Model Y Performance. Jeep's Trackhawk starts at $87,400 and can climb in price rapidly depending on options choices.

The Tesla Model X, critically, weighs in at 5,531 pounds while the Model Y weighs 4,416 pounds. Throttle House put the three on the runway for races from a dig and from a rolling start—watch the video to see if Elon Musk truly has found the replacement for displacement.
