While a 1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI may not be a collectors item by most accounts, there’s something special about this particular car. Only driven 1,584 miles since it was purchased 40 years ago in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this particular car is basically a time capsule and has had only a few things replaced since it spent almost its entire existence in storage.

The Story

Purchased at Pfeiffer Lincoln in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1980, the original owner of the vehicle drove the Lincoln 1,500 miles before they suddenly passed away. The car was then put into heated storage for years, until the estate sold the vehicle back to Pfeiffer Lincoln. The dealership brought the car back to working order and then sold it in 2012. The new owner lived in a retirement home and barely used the vehicle before passing away two years later and from there the car went back into storage, until it was acquired by Vanguard Motor Sales.

Upgrades

When Pfeiffer Lincoln bought the car back, they installed new safety belts as well as hoses, a battery, and a new gas tank. Of course, they gave the vehicle a tuneup and even converted the old air conditioning system to 134. So the vehicle does have a couple upgrades, but mostly it looks like the exact same vehicle that rolled off the assembly line in 1980.

Specs

This Lincoln has a certain feel of old school, classic luxury. There are soft leather seats and tons of wood trim. And for those really into the whole retro thing, there’s a CB radio and a “quadrasonic” stereo system with a tape player. Under the hood, this baby still packs a bit of a punch. There is a 5.8-liter V8 engine which pushes out 140 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. It is rear wheel drive and has a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is currently listed for $27,900.
