It's fair to say that BBC’s Top Gear has been through a rough ride over the last few years. After Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May all left it struggled to find its feet. Now, it seems to have done so with a lineup of Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness, and Freddie Flintoff. And now, the show is about to head into its third season. The BBC and Top Gear have just dropped the new trailer for the show, giving us some idea of what to expect when it airs later this year.

Antics And Stunts Will Be Mixed With Top Gear Seriousness

Unsurprisingly, the trio is going to get up to a range of antics but there are plenty of hints that some serious car action will be present, probably with Mr. Harris taking center stage in those segments. Harris appears to be throwing a Lamborghini around the track and there is an interesting glimpse of one of the Xtreme E vehicles, so that will be something for us to keep an eye on. But perhaps what will excite viewers the most are the stunts and the challenges.

Someone Is Certainly Set To Lose Their Dignity

There seem to be plenty of stunts coming up, as the trio is seen in front of three supercars at the start of the trailer, hinting at a supercar challenge of some sort. Then, after saying, “well at least we still have our dignity,” Paddy is promptly seen falling off a jet ski! The show has to get the right balance between fun stuff and serious stuff, but the last couple of seasons have certainly struck the right balance and this upcoming season looks to be no exception.

Current Lineup Has Revived Top Gear's Fortunes

Top Gear in its current form first aired in 2002 and was of course made famous by Hammond, Clarkson, and May. The current trio of Harris, McGuinness, and Flintoff took over after Matt LeBlanc and Rory Reid left the show, leaving Harris as the sole remaining presenter from the post-Clarkson era from 2016 onwards. The positive reception from audiences has seen the show move from long-time home BBC2 to the more mainstream channel of BBC1 with early signs indicating it paid off.
