No matter what your views are on SUVs, I guarantee you are not as passionate about those feelings as much as Top Gear’s Chris Harris is. And by passionate, I mean that Chris absolutely hates them. And now, he's weighing on Ferrari throwing their hat into the SUV market. Harris has been a shining beacon of light for Top Gear since he helped replace Hammond, May, and Clarkson around four years ago. And with Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuiness, Top Gear is going through a revival. While the other two bring comedic value and a light-hearted side, Harris brings the car knowledge—a lot of car knowledge, and he is probably one of the best car journalists in the world.

2022 Ferrari Purosangue: Chris Harris Gives His Take

One massive bone of contention for Harris is SUVs. And to be fair, he’s got a point. Sitting down and talking on Top Gear's YouTube channel, he made his feelings clear. They are big, cumbersome, and most of the time probably driven by people that don’t need them. And the Ferrari SUV is all set to replace the FF family. Harris, perhaps like most of us out there, is “browbeaten” by it all, and simply accepts that Ferrari is going to make one, and probably has to make one as well. And given how well Lamborghini has done with the Urus, that probably isn’t a surprise.

The Urus now makes up over 50% of Lamborghini’s sales! Yet the Ferrari SUV will just see 1 in 5 of the cars the company produces, be that SUV. But as Harris says, the car just has to exist. And one positive note is that it will make more money for the company, to spend on its various racing activities in Formula 1 and the world of GT racing. So perhaps it fits the company’s philosophy more than it does other company’s.

If Lamborghini Can Pull It Off, So Can Ferrari

Harris says he “can’t think of anything worse than a Ferrari SUV.” And did we really think this day would come? Ferrari is not a name that you would associate with an SUV. But on the flip side of this, Lamborghini is hardly a name you would put alongside that of a company that will make an SUV either, and yet they are doing it. And they are selling very well. Such is the way of the world. But as Chris says, "Every wealthy tasteless person wants a Ferrari SUV."
