The Mercedes-AMG ONE has been a bit of a long-running saga. The car was first launched in 2017, and it was all about bringing a Formula 1 engine into a high-performance production car. That is a 1.6-liter turbo-hybrid V6 engine. And Mercedes really bit off more than they could chew, as the project has been beset by delays. Finally, though, the production-ready car is here, and Shmee150 has managed to get a closer look at the new hypercar.

The Big Details Behind The AMG-ONE

In the case of the AMG-ONE, the engine is, of course, mated to four electric motors. Two in the front, two in the back. It is, in effect, a Formula 1 car for the road, with the engine producing a total of 1,063 hp. That is equivalent to what current Formula 1 engines are able to produce.

The car has dihedral doors, an F1-inspired steering wheel and a very cool looking dashboard display. The car Shmee is looking at has the livery inspired by the 2019/2020 Mercedes F1 cars, complete with some Petronas accenting. And the hints of its F1 engine are all shown off thanks to the various cooling vents at the front of the car.

A Sculpted Hood For Cooling

The hood of the car is beautifully sculpted to help the airflow across the car, and to help channel some of that into the car's air box. This is also to help cool the F1-inspired power plant under the hood. The diffuser looks impressive, and the exhaust arrangement is something that needed a lot of work for homologation, as well as making sure it produced the F1 sound.

Under the engine bay, though, is where the real magic lies. Shmee shows us inside the engine bay, and points out that the engine is neatly buried in the car.

A Stunning AMG Interior

The interior is certainly quite snug, but it is, of course, inspired by a Formula 1 car. Just look at the steering wheel! That helps make this car a bit of a work of art. There are various driving modes in the car too, such as race safe, normal race mode and race plus which drops the suspension right down. Shmee shows this off, as well as the rear wing popping out, plus the front winglets popping out. It might be a late arrival, but it looks like the AMG ONE was worth the wait.
