Early this year, the COVID-19 pandemic killed a couple of auto shows. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, however, has refused to die and is living on in the virtual world as the SEMA360 Showcase. Toyota showed its commitment to SEMA by unveiling three special Toyota Supra projects (and a Tacoma concept), all celebrating pure performance.

Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink GR Supra

The Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink GR Supra is a 2020 model GR Supra built to compete in the 2020 Formula Drift Pro class. Participating as the No. 151 GR Supra, this 1,033-hp drift-focused build is driven by 2015 Formula Drift champion Fredric Aasbo.

Aasbo and this Supra are in the running to win the championship in the 2020 Formula Drift Pro class. Interestingly, Aasbo takes part in European drift races aboard a GR Supra powered by – not BMW's B58 turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine – a 1,036-hp 2JZ-GTE engine also found under the hood of the fourth-gen Supra.

Just like the Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink GR Supra, the GReddy Performance Formula D GR Supra competes in the 2020 Formula Drift Pro class (as the No. 21 GR Supra). A build by Ken Gushi Motorsports and GReddy Performance, this GR Supra had three goals: efficiency, simplicity, and impact.

Piloted by Ken Gushi, the design of this GR Supra allows for efficient and quick repairs – factors that can make the winning difference. While it only features elements needed in a pro drift racer, it comes with an impactful visual package that accentuates the GR Supra’s stunning design and performance in the world of Formula Drift.

Ornamental Conifer GR Supra

The third project is a GR Supra built by Ornamental Conifer, a British artist – Nicolai Sclater in real life – serving as art director at Race Service creative agency. The Ornamental Conifer GR Supra is essentially a 2021 GR Supra 3.0 Premium wrapped in Turbulence Gray finish and adorned with hand-painted graphics and expressions such as ‘True to Form’ and ‘Lightning Response.’
