The Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is an off-road focused workhorse that some consider as one of the best trucks in the market. Nevertheless, it’s hard to resist the thoughts of a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro going against a new Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel, GMC Sierra AT4X V8, and Ford F-150 Hybrid. Let those thoughts become a reality with this drag race video from The Fast Lane Truck.

Toyota Tundra TRD Pro: A Hardcore Off-Roader

TFL’s latest video isn’t about a four-way drag race in which the four trucks would all line up and then sprint to the quarter mile. Instead of such a race, the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro went up one-on-one against the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel, GMC Sierra AT4X V8, and Ford F-150 Hybrid. Thus, it’s essentially an event of three drag races: hybrid vs gas, hybrid vs diesel, and hybrid vs hybrid.

Built by Toyota for durability and off-road prowess, the Tundra TRD Pro is a highly elevated truck that could offer sensational power, in a relative sense. Under its hood is a twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.4-liter V-6 engine, benefiting from 46 hp and 184 lb-ft of boost from its electric motor. Thus, it delivers around 437 hp of combined out and 583 lb of combined torque.

The 6,100-lb Toyota Tundra TRD Pro first raced against a Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel. much Lighter than the Tundra TRD Pro, the Silverado just gets 277 hp of max output and 460 lb-ft of peak torque from its 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax turbodiesel engine. As expected, the Tundra TRD Pro won this race with a huge gap.

In the second round, the Tundra TRD Pro battled against a GMC Sierra AT4X V8, which comes powered with a 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of peak torque. Great sounding with the highest ground clearance among the four trucks, the Sierra is heavier than the Silverado by 200 lbs. The Sierra AT4X V8 lost against the Tundra TRD Pro at the end, though.

Ford’s F-150 Hybrid seemed evenly matched against the Tundra TRD Pro. It just weighs around 100 lbs less with almost similar numbers -- 430 hp of combined output and around 570 lb.-ft. of torque. At the end, the F-150 Hybrid won twice against the Tundra TRD Pro. TFL, however, noted that unlike its three rivals, the F-150 Hybrid isn’t an off-road focused truck with its lower ride height and sportier settings.
