The Track-focused Brabham BT62 is set to make its American debut at Monterey Car Week in California.

Monterey Car Week is about to kick off on August 17th by displaying 30 classic cars along the 300 block of Alvarado Street. Those antique cars, whatever they are, will surely impress everyone who passes by on the sidewalk, but the real show begins the following week when Brabham arrives in town.

Starting on Wednesday, August 22nd, Brabham Motors will for the first time debut their track-devouring hypercar, the Brabham BT62. This $1.3 million beast has already debuted in Europe at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it certainly made an impression rocketing up the hill in record time.

On August 25th, the BT62 will be on display at Exotics on Cannery Row event, while on August 24th and 26th the car will be center stage on the Michelin stand at Laguna Seca. All are welcome to ogle the crazy car to their heart’s content. The only thing we can really complain about is that we won’t see the BT62 in action.

The example to go on display in California will wear dark green and gold livery to commemorate Dan Gurney’s victory at the 1964 French Formula One Grand Prix--Brabham's first F1 victory. Since then, the company has used gold and green as their signature colors.

Brabham is set to build 70 of these handmade hypercars, with the first 35 being part of their Celebration series celebrating every single one of their Formula One victories. This means the first 35 will come numbered, wear the same livery that the winning race car did back in the day, and get a commemorative plaque on the inside.

The remaining 35 will be customized to their individual customer’s tastes. As is usually the case in this future capitalist dystopia we find ourselves in, every single $1.3 million BT62 has already been bought and sold.

Buying a BT62 isn’t like test driving a Corolla--you gotta purchase sight unseen to get your hands on these kinds of cars.

Deliveries are set to begin in the early part of 2019, with a road-legal version to follow sometime after.
