The 2023 Acura Integra very much caused a stir when it was first revealed in 2021. The return of the iconic name is exciting for fans of the name worldwide, although it isn’t likely the Integra name will adorn a Honda anytime soon. Despite having an idea of what is under the hood of the car, a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, there is no real word on its technical details. However, Integra Talk is now reporting that some transmission and trim level details have come out.

The Transmission Details Are Interesting

The report from the website states that the 2023 Integra will come, as standard, with a CVT transmission. This will be both the base model and the A-Spec trim models. On top of that, an optional six-speed manual transmission will be available on the A-Spec Tech version of the Integra. Long-standing reports suggested that the ten-speed automatic transmission from Acura would be a standard feature of the car. However, Integra Talk said that they can confirm that the ten-speed automatic transmission will be not a standard feature for the new 2023 Integra. That raises the possibility it could be an option.

New Integra: A Disappointment To Some Enthusiasts

While it is nice to finally have a few details on the Integra’s transmission, there were many disappointed fans. Not least because the CVT transmission was the standard choice rather than the ten-speed automatic. While that could return as an option, right now it does not look likely. Then there is the fact that the manual six-speed transmission is only available on the A-Spec Tech version of the Integra, and with weirdly no option of such a gearbox on the base model of the Integra, the model that will be the most affordable to many.

New Integra: Comments Echo The Disappointment

The comments on Integra Talk’s report echo the sentiment of disappointment. When user, Steve V, said, “if true....wow...what a complete shame to put the CVT in this car!!” It would probably be hard to disagree with that statement as well, as it does feel a bit short-sighted from Acura to leave out a manual transmission as a standard option on a car that, historically, appealed to those who prefer a manual transmission. For now, it looks like the trim levels will be base, A-Spec, and A-Spec Tech, but of course, things could change before we get to the full public release of the Integra, with orders opening on March 10th.
