Trucks are all the rage nowadays. From the college frat boy to the edgy soccer mom, trucks are no longer just for the blue-collar workers. Though they are not as affordable as sedans, they are increasingly replacing SUVs thanks to their versatility. Whether they are mid or large-sized trucks, they have become part of the landscape.

Modifying trucks can be a daunting task. However, when the work is well done, they become the kind of trucks that people can't stop staring at, whether they're slammed or lifted.

10 Slammed: Dodge D350

Until recently, Dodge has always been sort of the underdog. Not only its trucks, but its muscle cars were somewhat overlooked. In the most recent years, Dodge reshaped the market with its high-power muscle cars and improved pickup trucks. Dodge's older trucks are some of the best classic trucks out there for a project.

This D350 is the kind of slammed truck that looks much better than expected. The two-door truck looks great with a huge big rig exhaust and rims, but it would not look the same without the airbag system that allows it to sit extremely low. Slamming a truck such as this D350 does not require a lot of superficial body parts.

9 Lifted: Chevrolet C20

Over the last couple of years, the restomod trend gained so much traction that people with dilapidated trucks sitting in their barns started thinking about either selling them, or fitting them with a LS engine. Though oldies look really good when slammed and equipped with a big-block V8, there are times when they look even better lifted.

The Chevrolet C20 was already a big truck when it was first released. Though it was not the largest on the market, it was big enough to conquer the hearts of truck fans. In the most recent years, a truck like the C20 is the sort of trucks that requires to be lifted and fitted with some humongous off-road tires.

8 Slammed: Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevy Colorado was never a very memorable mid-size truck. Though it had a sportier trim, it was never as great as the Tacoma or the Ranger. One thing that did work well on the Colorado was the Baja treatment. One style that was highly underrated was to have the Colorado sitting on the ground.

It is quite common to stumble upon slammed Colorados in the Southwestern portion of the US. Southern Californa, for example, is home of a plethora of tastefully slammed Colorados.

7 Lifted: Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma. America's favorite mid-size truck. Its international cousin, the Hilux, is equally popular as the Tacoma but faces more competition, especially in developing countries. In the US, the Tacoma did better than its domestic counterparts. Despite the release of the Colorado ZR2 and the Ranger Raptor, the Tacoma remains the king of the mid-size trucks.

This Tacoma is unlike most modified Tacomas out there. It looks like the Japanese version of the Humvee. The rims and somewhat low-profile tires may not to everybody's taste, but they sure look nice. As stated by the manufacturer, the Black Rhino Armory Desert rims fit perfectly on a normal or lifted truck.

6 Slammed: Chevrolet C10

The Chevy C10 became one of the most popular classic trucks on the restomod scene. Thanks to its very boxy design and overall modularity, it became the norm to see 600+ hp C10s at car meets. Whether it is a drag-ready or murdered-out C10, it is almost impossible to attend a decent car show in which C10s are absent.

There are tons of slammed trucks out there. Fitted with Coyotes or LS engines. This particular truck is slammed and fitted with an LS3 engine. However, its very simplistic look tends to grab people's attention. No overload of stickers or blinding paint job, just a classy, modified C10.

5 Lifted: Nissan Titan

Nissan has always been overlooked when it comes to manufacturing trucks. Its Frontier is far from an outstanding mid-size truck, and the Titan got completely eclipsed by the Toyota Tundra. However, this highly underrated truck deserves to be in the limelight as the Titan is a great truck to modify.

This Titan is the sort of lifted truck that is built to go off-road and to look pretty. Equipped with a solid 5.6L V8 that cranks out 400hp and 413lb-ft of torque, the truck is perfect for some off-road action. However, a lift kit and some heavy-duty tires would help the truck navigate through some of the most intricate terrains.

4 Slammed: Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Truck

Classic trucks from the 1940s and 1950s seem to have been designed to transcend time. Their original styles fit perfectly with the modern trends. Moreover, they tend to get a hot-rod feel to them whenever they are modified inside and out. A 1,000hp old school truck is for sure going to be a show-stopper.

The back information on this truck is, sadly, unavailable. However, it is fair to assume that it is equipped with a serious airbag system. Otherwise, its owners would have to get the entire frame and front end fixed every other day. Given the amount of work done to this truck, it can be assumed that the original engine has given way to something a bit more powerful.

3 Lifted: Ford F-150 Raptor

Via rad-rides.com

If there is one thing Ford majestically orchestrated over the last ten years is the release of the much anticipated Ford F-150 Raptor. Both Chevy and Dodge have since tried to come up with muscle trucks, however, neither the Chevy nor the Dodge trucks were as versatile as Ford's F-150 Raptor.

It is quite difficult to turn an already complete truck into something even scarier. Built by RAD Rides in Dallas, TX, this cool Raptor is equipped with a 4in lift kit by Fabtech. This Raptor seems ready to take on the most difficult trail or sand dune. It is unclear how much all the mods would cost, but the result is simply awesome.

2 Slammed: Ford F-450 Harley-Davidson

The Ford F-Series is made of very interesting trucks. From the smaller (yet still humongous) F-150 to the outrageously big F-650, Ford has designed a truck for about every single usage. Tuners, however, see it differently. A large truck doesn't have to be in a cornfield collecting mud.

The Ford F-450 is a massive truck. There is no denying that. However, most lifted F-450 tend to be lifted princesses that are simply incapable of doing anything off-road. Given the fact that most Ford trucks are now very luxurious (especially special editions like this one), having a lowered luxurious truck can be useful in an American urban setting.

1 Lifted: Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

Chevrolet has brought some hyper trucks to the market. Its larger duallies are powered by insanely huge diesel engines that have conquered the hearts of motorists. Thanks to the trucks' sturdiness and style, Chevy was able to take some of Ford's market shares without much effort.

Duallies are naturally impressive. Though they would require a special type of driver's license in most parts of the world, they are readily available in the land of the free. Despite the reputation associated with duallies, they can become true head-turners when modified tastefully.
