Hennessey Performance Engineering, the Texas-based tuner shop and specialty car manufacturer, is at it again. I suppose it was only a matter of time before they got their hands on the all-new 2020 mid-engine C8 Corvette and coaxed even more juice out of it. The current offering is a series of upgrades that in Hennessey's own words runs the gamut from the "mild to the wild." At the top rung of the C8 upgrade package is a twin turbo kit pumping out in excess of 1,200 hp. Let's take a look at her and see how Hennessey does it.

Any tuner upgrade and modification package is only as good as the vehicle that you start with. The C8 Corvette possesses a revolutionary design and drivetrain that has been lauded by critics and an all-too eager public. With its mid-engine configuration and healthy 6.2 liter V-8 with 490 hp, the Corvette goes from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds. Not bad for a starting point and most people would certainly say that's enough, but not Hennessey.

Hennessey plans on offering several stages of tune for the C8 Corvette. They'll also be a 700 hp package with a supercharger. The 1,200 hp model will include a thoroughly modified 6.2 liter engine with forged internals, aluminum 10:1 pistons, steel con rods, and a twin turbo setup and custom exhaust system. The Tremec manufactured dual-clutch transmission will also be beefed up to handle the extra power. Factory dyno-tuning and road testing are also included.

She'll also be finished in some eye-catching color combinations with a prominent air scoop atop the roof. Buckle up.
