The Shelby GT500 is the ultimate Mustang. But it is only available in America. Mustang lovers in the UK are unable to experience the joys of owning this pony car. But Clive Sutton has come up with a solution, and that is the CS850GT. This car is the British alternative to the Shelby GT500. It has a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that is good for 859 HP and 900 Nm of torque. The additional power comes from a supercharger and modified exhaust. There are also upgraded brakes, suspension, and carbon fiber parts.

The CS850GT is rear-wheel-drive, as is the GT500. But the driver must row a manual gearbox. The base price is £115,000, which converts to tad over $153,000 USD.

Each car prepares for the race by doing donuts and warming up the tires. Both cars experience some wheelspin as they are even at the start. Then the GT500 starts to pull away.

The timer shows that the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 completes the quarter-mile race in 11.8 seconds, while the CS850GT finishes in 12.2 seconds.

The second match is a roll race that begins with each car traveling 50 mph while in third gear. The cars are even at first with the GT500 having a slight lead at the finish. Both drivers attribute the GT500’s win to its quicker shifting dual-clutch transmission.

The final competition is a brake test. Both drivers hit the brakes at 160kph, which translates to 100 mph. In this test, the GT500 comes to a stop a few feet shorter than the CS850GT.

So the results reflect an all-around win for the stock Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 over a modified Clive Sutton CS850GT.
