The battle of the full-size pickup truck segment is more extreme than it has ever been. Trucks are bigger and better every year, including ones from Ford, Toyota, and Ram. It seems that every new release introduces something advanced to raise the stakes.

Trucks tend to receive stronger engines to outgun the competition. Consequently, towing capabilities are higher than ever, so are the payloads. Also, technology features have become standard on the buyer’s checklist, along with off-road capabilities. When it comes to trucks, there are many options on offer. And with so many vehicles to choose from, there’s not much that an average auto enthusiast should worry about, except choosing.

If you’re into trucks, chances are, you like something with lots of ponies and a high performance that will defeat the rest. That said, there is no better way to find out how much power a truck can churn out than a good old fashion tug of war.

Tug-Of-War Between Four Major Pickup Trucks

When it comes to tug of wars, the TFLoffroad YouTube Channel is where viewers can find plenty of action. The channel of gearheads pushes the trucks at lengths to see just how much pulling power they’ll offer. They base this on factors such as engine power, weight, drivetrain systems, and more.

This particular episode featured Nathan and Andre. They operated the industry’s most recent additions: the 2022 Toyota Tundra, the Ford Bronco with the truck frame, the Nissan Titan, the mighty Ram TRX, and the Ford F-150 Raptor 37. These battled on the snowy terrain of the Tumbleweed Ranch in Northern Colorado.

In the first round, the Toyota Tundra took on the Nissan Titan. Both of these trucks are the latest releases, and they pack some serious power. The Toyota Tundra comes with a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, called the i-Force. It makes 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The Titan packs a stronger V8 engine that makes up to 400 horsepower.

Weight is also an important factor in this sport. The heavier the truck, the harder it will be for the opponent to pull it, let alone in the opposite direction. Curb weight is at around 5,720 pounds for the Tundra and just under 6,000 pounds for the Titan. In this tug of war, the Tundra is rolling on Falken wheels while the Titan wore Grabber wheels. The Titan had a clear advantage. At the start, the Tundra still put up a fight but got overwhelmed. The Titan pulled the Tundra for 3 feet, securing its victory.

After defeating the Tundra, the Titan moved forward in the bracket. It was then up against the latest Ford Bronco. This special Ford Bronco has a truck frame that looks ready for any adventure. It runs on a 2.7-Liter twin-turbo EcoBoost that produces 300 horsepower, which was no match for the Titan’s engine.

Also, the Bronco weighs considerably less than the Titan, at around 5,300 pounds. But what the Ford Bronco makes up for the less power and less weight with wheel apparel. The Bronco’s wearing Wrangler tires, which have a better grip on the surface. Beyond prospect, the Ford Bronco won, pulling the marker past the cone.

The Ram TRX went up against the Ford 150 Raptor in the third round, for the winner to take on the bronco in the final round. The Ram TRX comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine, which produces up to 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft of torque.

The Raptor, on the other hand, packs a solid twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine under the hood. This makes a staggering 450 horsepower at 5,850 RPM and 510 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 RPM. Also, the new Raptor is the first production pickup on 37-inch wheels, which beats the TRX’s 35s. The TRX has power and weight advantage.

Once the pulling began, both trucks put up a solid fight, skidding on the snowy terrain. The TRX pulled the Raptor by only two feet, securing a spot in the final battle.

Once again, the Ram seemed to have a huge advantage over the Ford Bronco. The TRX has more weight and more horsepower under the hood. But they have one similarity. They’re both rolling on the same tires, which is a huge factor when it comes to tug of wars.

After the countdown, both trucks put up a lot of effort to haul the other while withstanding the drag pressure. On both ends, the tires really burrowed deep into the snow. Surprisingly, both trucks didn’t move an inch, and the result was a tie.
