In what is perhaps one of the best examples of the MGA on the planet, this MGA Outlaw will be auctioned off tomorrow by the equally incredible Petersen Museum. Built from 1955 to 1962, the MGA sports car was constantly improved throughout its life-cycle. It was designed with the 1951 MG TD in mind. That inspiring car actually competed in Le Mans that season and set the MGA on a course of classic good looks and sporty driving characteristics. This 1961 model takes all the charm of the original car and accentuates it.

This MGA Was Completely Disassembled Before Restoration

While many restorations are dedicated affairs that take some time to complete as a few parts here and there are replaced, refreshed, or upgraded, this restoration didn't stop there. They actually disassembled the vehicles down to the very last nuts and bolts before painstakingly rebuilding it from the ground up. In fact, this is the first-ever frame-off restoration undertaken by the Petersen Museum. Judging just by the looks of it, it's clear that they've done a magnificent job.

Petersen Kept The MGA DNA While Adding A Little Outlaw Flair

Any time a full restoration is done it can be difficult to decide what to change, what to upgrade, and what to leave alone entirely. However, the Petersen Museum has found that perfect balance with this MGA Outlaw. The body itself was returned to perfect condition without any modification on the classic design. The interior was fully restored with oxblood leather seats, a polished steering wheel, and new black carpeting. The engine has been fully reworked with new larger carburetors and a hotter cam profile. The brakes have been upgraded to new discs all around. The suspension has also been brought into the modern-day and the whole car has been finished off with classic custom wire wheels. This MGA is going to offer some amazing driving experiences for whoever ends up being its next owner.

Petersen Museum Auction Features Even More Lots

In addition to the incredible MGA Outlaw, the Petersen is going to be auctioning off some exceptionally special experiences to benefit their foundation at the 2020 Petersen Gala. First, there's going to be a six-night stay at a Scottish Castle complete with your own personal chef and house-staff. Then there's going to be a driving experience with Bruce Canepa. That's the same guy who built this wild Porsche 959. You'll get the chance to pick up some driving tips from him in a Porsche 935 at Sonoma raceway. No matter what you personally enjoy in the automotive world, this auction will have something for you.
