VENOMOUS! Hennessey Releases 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 Venom 1200 HP Package

How's 1,200 hp?! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 2020 Hennessey GT500 Venom 1200.

With 760 hp on tap from its supercharged 5.2 liter V-8 "Predator" motor, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is hardly lacking giddy up. Early tests have confirmed that Ford's most maniacal steed can gallop down the quarter mile in a blistering 10.61 seconds at 133 mph. How's that for fast?!

Well, if you were to ask the wrench pullers and mad scientists at Hennessey Performance the answer you would get would probably be something akin to "Not fast enough!" To make her even faster they've cooked up something special ... real special. How's 1,200 hp?! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the 2020 Hennessey GT500 Venom 1200.

How did Hennessey manage to coax almost 500 additional hp out of the already potent 5.2 mill? The parts list and testing regimen is pretty extensive and just what I would expect from Hennessey as they place a premium on top-notch components and craftsmanship.

It all starts with tearing the motor down and throwing out the supercharger, elements of the fuel system, rods, pistons, and exhaust. Next step is to build it back up with a bottom end that can take all that extra power. Racing rods and pistons are put down below and an upgraded fuel pump is added to handle the extra flow. A stainless steel exhaust system is then added to expel spent gases.

But the big addition to the Venom package is a pair of turbos and upgraded intercooler system. Additionally, the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is beefed up to handle all that power. Once it's altogether, it goes through extensive dyno tuning, road testing, and is driven for over 150 miles before it's returned to the customer. Dyno testing confirms 1,200 hp at 7,100 rpm and 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm with E85 or 109 octane racing fuel. Wow!

On the inside and out, the Venom 1200 is adorned with any number of Hennessey plaques, badges, and embroidered doo-dads. She even comes with a 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty. If, however, that's just a little too much power for you, Hennessey also offers a Venom package for the GT500 with a mere 1,000 or 850 hp. Decisions, decisions! Buckle up.
