Vice Grip Garage is something that we would all love to do. These guys flip cars, restore cars and make sure that they are able to once again drive and claim their glory.

There is a YouTube channel that you can watch all the restorations happen. It is cool to spend an hour watching how a piece of metal that does not look like it can do anything except being a paperweight, gets restored into a gorgeous car that any of us would be happy to have in our driveways.

Their mission is to save as many cars as possible. It does not matter how badly the car is damaged, and it can sink in a river, be set alight or full of rust, they will still find a way to make the car drive again.

Vice Grip Garage has worked on many cars such as Cadillac's, Chevrolet's, and more.

In the hour-long YouTube video, the popular YouTuber will show you how to dig up a car from all weird walks of life and turn them into cars that can drive down the street once again.

Vice Grip Garage started buying, flipping, or restoring cars in early 2005. They have since lost count as to how many cars they have rescued, however, they are sure that they are well over 220 cars to date. They are not picky as to what make or model of car, they are just on a mission to save anything that is cool/epic from the crusher at the local scrap metal yard.

Derek has been working on cars for over 20 years but has only recently started filing and uploading his videos onto YouTube. He is not a certified mechanic. What he knows about cars, he has picked up over the years from watching his father and grandfather on the farms.

In an interview with DriveTribe, Derek said:

“I learned to make whatever you can find work, to be creative with solutions, and to not be afraid of failure or messing something up. Eventually, I started reading books about mechanical and electrical theories and such. Self-education is the key to success in any career.”

Derek keeps some of the cars once he has fixed them if they have sentimental value to the people that he first bought them from. He also keeps the ones that strike his fancy or might have some value later on down the line. The rest of the cars he sells to fund the YouTube Channel.

Let’s take a look at one of the best rescues he has ever done.

The image above is a 1972 Chevelle. This car is known as The ‘independence’. It is one of the coolest cars that he as taking from a junkyard and tried to fix. It is also Derek’s favorite car that he as rescued from the claws of a junkyard.

Derek said during an interview with DriveTribe:

“It was such a wreck. Literally anyone else would have hauled it to the scrap yard. But with its patriotic paint job and history, it just reminded me so much of our country right now. We’re all a little tired, a little tattered and torn, but as Americans we do not and will not give up. I couldn’t give up on the car. So, I’m in the process of putting in a procharged big block chevy, just because I can.”

This car was a complete mess. It was all rusty, the floor was damaged, the panels were dented. There was no part of this car that looked like anything that was able to drive let alone something that would be easily restored. Derek put his heart and soul into this build and the end result will amaze you. Once he got this car running, it ran like a beaut and sounded even better than you could have imagined.
