Russian automaker Aurus has started selling civilian versions of the Senat limousine Vladimir Putin was driven in for his 2018 inauguration.

There were probably people out there wishing they could have gotten one of their own, only to be disappointed, but Aurus has decided to make it available to the general public in the country and in various markets around the world, with North Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and China the main targets.

“We expect a similar showroom will appear in China in 2020-2021,” Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov revealed during the opening ceremony in Moscow.

Putin's limo is 23 feet in length but the manufacturers aren't going according to the exact model and only have a short, sedan-length version available for purchase.

Reuters reports that pricing for the CV version of the Senat starts at $18 million rubles - don't panic, that's only $274,000 in dollars.

The sum could get you multiple entry-level variants of some of the world's most luxurious cars, so the word "only" was used rather loosely there. But if you'd prefer getting your own version of the presidential whip, then why not?

Aurus hasn't disclosed the number of cars it's planning to sell. However, the company reckons there will be interested buyers from outside of Russia. The regions mentioned above are likely to get showrooms in the future but we shouldn't be surprised if one doesn't pop up in the United States

“The minivan and the SUV Komendant are at the testing stage. I hope to see the latter at the (Moscow International) Automobile Salon in 2020,” Manturov added.

The Senat, reminiscent of a Rolls-Royce limo, wasn't based on any existing model of vehicle but it is rumored that Porsche Engineering and Bosch had a bit of input. According to Autoweek, the car boasts a 4.4-liter V8 engine under the hood that delivers 600 horsepower.

The lineup is set to expand, with the expected additions of an 800-hp V12 and a much smaller 2.2-liter turbocharged 255-hp powertrain.

Aurus also has plans to launch a minivan, as well as an SUV branded the Komendant. The company hopes to have a hybrid or electric model (or both) join the lineup by 2025.
