The Volkswagen Golf GTI is considered by many to be possibly the world's greatest hot hatchback. And for good reason. It's sporty, fast, comfortable, and over time has developed into a real classic. And now, Volkswagen is ready to write the next chapter in the car's history. They have now revealed the new Golf GTI Clubsport, the next model of a car that we first saw on the roads in 2016, with a driving profile developed for the Nordschleife track in Germany.

Various Enhancements

The company has aimed to enhance many of the already great driving details from the previous models of GTI Clubsport. Think of this car as an evolution, rather than a revolution. The turbocharged engine, for example, has been revamped and enhanced over the previous generation. It now develops 400 Nm of torque and has been made even more agile than before.

The company has also made sure to retain many of the GTI-specific features. Elements that set it apart from a standard Volkswagen Golf. There are premium sport seats in ArtVelours that provide support when you throw the car around corners. There are also perforated leather grip zones and paddles. The car features a standard 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and will hopefully give better performance and smoother gear changes over the previous iteration of the car.

Better Handling And A Milestone

Karsten Schebsdat, the Head of Driving Dynamics, Steering and Control Systems at Volkswagen said, “Networking all driving dynamics systems means that the new Golf GTI Clubsport handles even more neutrally and precisely than the classic Golf GTI. For the legendary Nordschleife track, we have also programmed a new Nürburgring profile, which specifically adapts the running gear components in the new Golf GTI Clubsport to this race track.”

The company says that the new GTI Clubsport marks a new milestone for driving dynamics when it comes to front-wheel-drive sports cars. They really hope that this new flagship model of what will be the eighth generation Golf GTI will continue to carry on the popular range for many more years.
