It seems fair to say that we all thought 2020 was a bit of a crazy year. It seemed that each week some insane event around the world was happening and 2021 has not started much differently, especially when we look at the world of cars. It does rather appear that 2021 is not going to give us a second's respite, and that is very evident with this clip courtesy of ViralHog on YouTube, showing a Skoda with its rear wheels replaced with…well, what looks like a trailer! Despite Skoda making some amazing and exciting cars, they probably wouldn't consider making something like this.

What Are We Witnessing?

It's not a stretch to say that, if something has gone wrong with your car, you have to improvise, adapt, and overcome. So, what’s the backstory here? Well, there is not a lot of details at hand, but this clip is reportedly from Russia, in Rostov-on-Don to be exact, and the person behind the camera stated that they filmed this car on Highway M-4 near the aforementioned area. And it is certainly more than fair to say that we all would have sounded the same as they did at the start of the clip as we witness this car tanking down the highway.

The Skoda itself, before this trailer was even fitted, has clearly seen better days. Perhaps those bumps on the side are why it has had these trailer wheels fitted? We can clearly see that it is simply strapped above the trailer and that trailer is then being used as the rear wheels of the car to get it along the roads. In some ways, it's an ingenious bit of engineering to overcome a very bizarre issue, whatever the said issue actually was.

Finding A Method To The Madness

Why was this done? Well, we simply do not know, and that is open to wild speculation from us and yourself, the good reader at HotCars. And we have covered some wild things here before. There's no way we can answer that question, but we can provide some speculation. Perhaps it was a bodge job; or maybe it was a car ready to be towed that the owner somehow was able to break free from. Whatever the case may be, should you ever need the rear of your car replaced, this probably is not a sensible or long term solution to follow.
