The Tesla Model S Plaid may not hold the distinction of being the quickest production car on the quarter mile. That does not mean this super electric sedan would just lose to anyone since it remains one of the quickest cars on the planet. YouTube channel Track Day organized a half-mile race between a Model S Plaid and a 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and one of them lost big time.
Four-Digit Output From An Electric Sedan
When compared to a typical sedan, the Tesla Model S Plaid is a true monster. In fact, it is monstrous enough to slay various sports cars and supercars on a quarter-mile contest. This is thanks to the fact that a 2021 Model S Plaid has the ability to deliver up to 1,020 hp of max output and 1,050 lb-ft of instant torque. It may be heavier than a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, but it hold the definite advantage in terms of power and acceleration.
With heavy contributions from its three-motor all-wheel-drive layout and one-speed automatic transmission, a Tesla Model S Plaid in stock form could zoom from zero to 60 mph in just 1.99 seconds and achieve a top speed of 200 mph. It could also dash to a quarter mile run in merely 9.23 seconds. Only a few supercars can top these specs and a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is not of them.

At a price of more than $500,000, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is around four times more expensive than a Tesla Model S Plaid, which carries a price tag of $125,000 (more or less depending on location). While it does have a powerful 6.5-liter V12 engine at its disposal, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ can deliver at most 759 hp of output and 531 lb-ft of torque.
A 2021 Aventador SVJ can sprint from nil to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds, which is too slow to compete against a Tesla Model S Plaid. The Lamborghini being a sports car and a lighter model may help its case on the drag strip, as well as the fact that its top speed (217 mph) is greater than of the Tesla. Sadly, the contest is good only for a half mile.

As expected, the Tesla Model S Plaid made effective use of its electric power to jump to quick lead in the single drag race and two rolling contests. Three wins for the Model S Plaid for a potent performance even on the half mile.
