This Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 takes on all covers, including a Chevy Camaro SS and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Let’s be real here: the Mustang GT500 is a beast of a car, and neither the Camaro nor a mutant SUV like the Trackhawk stands a chance.

This particular GT500 looks to be the 2011-2012 model year version, which means it has a 5.4-L supercharged Modular V8 engine. Most came with 550 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, but the optional Super Snake upgrade package increases the supercharger boost to produce 650 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Judging by the drag radials, we suspect this Mustang has gone for that little extra power.

Its first opponent is a new Chevrolet Camaro SS. We like the Camaro, we really do, but a 6.2-L naturally aspirated V8 with 455 horsepower doesn’t stand a chance against the Mustang. The Camaro is about 100 lbs lighter, but drops almost half a second on its way from zero to sixty and hasn’t got anywhere near the Mustang’s top end.

We’re not going to bore you with the results of this one. Take a look at the video below to see how it goes.

Far more interesting is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk right at the end of the video. We don’t think the Trackhawk can actually win, but at least 707 horsepower is approaching the Mustang’s oomph. A 6.2-L supercharged V8 comes attached to an 8-speed automatic transmission that runs all four wheels, giving the Cherokee the edge when it comes to launch time.

However, the Cherokee is still a big SUV, and the faster it goes, the harder it has to work. The Mustang is over 1,500 lbs lighter than the Trackhawk, which might be too much for the Jeep to overcome. Find out in the video above.
