Amid the growing social media frenzy surrounding Ford's Bronco revival and Jeep's nervous responses, one hilarious detail is that nobody buys a new Bronco or Wrangler without having a laundry list of upgrades they want to drop thousands of dollars on as soon as they leave the dealer lot. But that's the kind of investment it takes to go overlanding while taking all the comforts of home with you—since camping on the ground in an actual tent is, like, so 20th century. But what if a full-on motorhome could take on tough trails? Well, a new video courtesy of Motortrend and Dirt Every Day features what's been dubbed the "off-roaderhome" with a Chevy LS7 swap and off-roading suspension bolted on, as well.

Don't Ask Why

The video features just about everything that no one should ever do in a Winnebago. This is a 1975 Winnebago Brave, just about the blandest, boxiest rig imaginable, and the video starts with the installation of off-roading equipment. The list includes Dana 60 axles, big and knobby tires, plus a new transfer case. Next up come the dunes, where the 'Bago struggles and looks about as dangerous as anything standing so tall definitely should be. Plus, the 440ci V8 struggles to haul the rig up even moderately steep hills.

To help with the power problems, the next step is the installation of an LS7 V8 with a claimed figure of around 700 horsepower on tap (a dubious claim, though not impossible). Dropping it in looks like it was quite a task, though luckily, the engine bay is accessed from right next to the driver's seat.

Just dropping the old engine required cutting parts of the frame, while the job also involved removing the Winnebago's built-in generator. With the LS7 installed, the clip's denouement involves some hilariously ill-advised donuts, with a full-on rollover looking imminent at every second.
