Just recently, a video of a Challenger Hellcat Redeye speeding for 2.3 miles has surfaced, and the Dodge was able to go as fast as 195 miles per hour. Spec'ed To Be Fast And Quick
As far as Dodge is concerned, the SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye has a top speed of 203 mph. This could be achieved in the real world given some favorable factors including the right gear ratio, actual distance covered and wind direction. While specs are important, the right conditions also help.
In terms of specs, this 2019 Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye was brought to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds (JBPG) a three-mile long ultra-flat runway in Merritt Island, Florida. Its 6.2-liter V8 engine supported by a 2.7-liter supercharger can provide 797 hp of max output and 707 lb.-ft. of peak torque, as sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
195 MPH In 2.3 Miles
JBPG has been conducting straight line aerodynamic testing on various vehicles to check whether the published performance figures by carmakers match real-world numbers. Depending on the info the company wanted to extract, tests are done in distances of half-mile, 1 mile, 1.5 miles, 2 miles, 2.3 miles, 2.5 miles and 2.7 miles.
HotCars reported late May that JBPG drove a Hellcat Redeye to a half-mile top speed of 150 mph. This time around JBPG covered 2.3 miles, which should better reveal the top performance of this muscle car. As the video shows, the Hellcat Redeye managed to go as fast as 195.299 mph after zooming along 2.3 miles of runway.
Going Beyond 200 MPH?
While this 2019 Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye features a gear ratio of 2.62:1 a YouTube comment egged JPBG to do the longer 2.7-mile test at the optional gear ratio of 3:09:1. In this configuration, the Hellcat Redeye might go well beyond 200 mph. JBPG promised it would, and HotCars will tell you all about when they do.
