Amid an automotive industry trending towards all-wheel-drive systems and electrification as the performance enhancements of the future, Dodge remains a stalwart believer in the old saying about no replacement for displacement. While recent comments by Dodge execs reveal that ethos may stand to change in the near future, in the meantime, burly Hemi V8 engines look to be the name of the game. Whether or not any Dodge will ever outpace the absurd drag-dominating Challenger SRT Demon sounds dubious, but for anyone feeling the need for speed, the likes of Hennessey Performance will happily upgrade any Dodge V8 to ridiculous power levels above (and beyond) the Demon's, as proven by a new video posted on YouTube featuring an HPE900 Charger taking on a stock Demon.

Four-Door Charger Vs Two-Door Demon

Hennessey always does a great job of proving what the Texas-based tuners can do with some time on their hands. In the case of the HPE900-equipped Charger, the obvious choice for a compare-and-contrast has to be the Demon, which left the factory with up to 840 horsepower on tap when equipped with the Demon Crate package.

Specifically, the Charger in question here benefits from upgrades to the supercharger's upper and lower pulleys, as well as a ported supercharger snout, stainless long-tube headers, and high-flow exhaust components on back. Additional work includes high-flow fuel injectors and a revised intake system to feed the blower.

Proven Performance In A Roll Race

The Demon's status as the world's most fearsome factory drag racer remains unquestioned, but how does the worked-over Charger from Hennessey stack up in its new, modified form? Well, it's safe to bet that Hennessey wouldn't have released the video if the HPE900 Charger couldn't hold its ground, though everyone wins when both of these supercharged Dodges spool up in a roll race to prove their performance in street-like conditions at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds. Turn up the volume to get the full effect.
