The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette (C8) is out roaming the streets, with the first production model being the slick Stingray. Still, the C7 Corvette isn't a pushover, with the Z06 and ZR1 versions leading the charge. But if a client wants more, Hennessey Performance can make a C7 Corvette Z06 more potent with its HPE850 package, as captured by this video. Let’s take a look at a recent track test courtesy of the Sealy, Texas based tuner.

More Z06 Power At Your Disposal

Hennessey’s HPE850 upgrade entails boosting the Corvette Z06’s 6.2-liter V8 engine with its own supercharger package. Typically, the Z06's 6.2-liter V8 mill can deliver 650 hp of max output and 650 lb.-ft. of peak torque. With power sent to the wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic gearbox, a Z06 can sprint from nil to 60 mph in 2.95 seconds and achieve a top speed of 205 mph.

Hennessey actually developed two supercharger packages for the Corvette Z06 – the HPE850 and the HPE1000. As the packages explicitly reveals, the HPE850 upgrades the output to 850, while the HP1000 boosts it to 1,000 HP. Right now, Hennessey is in the thick of development of a new boost package for the C8 Corvette.

The black Corvette Z06 in the video comes loaded with the HPE850 engine upgrade. Aside from the output boost to 850 hp at 6,300 rpm, the package also hikes the peak torque to 715 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm. This supercharged engine upgrade is available for the Corvette Z06 from the 2015 to 2019 model years, and is compatible with both the factory manual and automatic transmissions.

According to Hennessey, the HPE850 upgrade entails the installation of upgraded components including valve springs, intake and exhaust valves. Also installed were long-tube stainless steel headers, a high-flow air induction system and heat exchanger. Stainless steel midpipes, high-flow catalytic converters and custom Hennessey camshaft were also fitted.

Roaring Power On The Track

The HPE850 Z06 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and reach a quarter mile in just 10.3 seconds at 136 mph. As shown in the video, the roaring sound of the engine with supercharger cannot be denied – it’s music to the ears. How the HPE850 Z06 zooms from nil to high speed is a real spectacle. Interested clients need to hurry though, as only 100 units will be produced.
