Hennessey's supercharged Heritage Edition F-150 is definitely not your ordinary pickup truck. Its racing theme alone tells a lot on how furious this Ford truck could be on the road.

Nonetheless, the Heritage Edition F-150 isn't all potent that it won't be defeated on a race. It could be exciting to see whether a Heritage Edition F-150 can win against a less powerful but true pony car in the guise of the Ford Mustang GT.

Hennessey had arranged its Heritage Edition F-150 to race against a white Mustang GT on a drag strip.

Heritage Edition F-150 Outruns A Mustang GT

Both are powered by the a Coyote V8 engine, although the mill in the Heritage Edition F-150 has been upgraded dynamically to 758 hp of max output and 660 lb-ft of torque. It's safe to assume that the Mustang GT is a stock unit with 460 hp of max output and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.

The drag race at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds entailed two runs. In the first run, both the Heritage Edition F-150 and the Mustang GT were flagged simultaneously. As soon as the contest started, the modified truck flexed its muscles against the pony car, increasing the gap until around halfway the strip.

In the second run, the Traction Control of the Mustang GT was switched on. When the race started, the initial lead of the Heritage Edition F-150 wasn't as large as in the first race. The Mustang managed to catch up with the modified F-150 and win the race by a small margin.

Interestingly, Hennessey (or its video editor) seemingly gave a small screen time to the part when Mustang was furiously catching up with the F-150. That's understandable considering that the video serves as a promotional clip for the Heritage Edition F-150, which was first revealed more than two years ago. Hennessey's Heritage family includes a 2018 F-150, 2005 Ford GT, 2018 Ford GT, and 2019 Mustang.

The contest between the Heritage Edition F-150 and the Mustang GT is another demonstration of power not always winning against weight. Likewise, there was a vast difference between the body type and aerodynamics.
