Among all the YouTube channels that have blown up in popularity over the last few years by featuring drag races between the world's best sports cars, rarely does the discussion of tires fit into the mix. One group of gearheads that always focuses on tires, however, is the Hoonigans — largely thanks to their head honcho Ken Block's tendency to destroy all the rubber he sees on a daily basis. But racing two cars without discussing their rubber is an absurd practice, which the Hoonigans seem to be clowning by their recent string of "This vs. That" videos featuring two random cars that aren't really comparable going head-to-head. Two weeks ago, it was a Nissan 370Z drift car going up against a tuned Audi RS3. And now, the crew has gotten together to race a V8-powered and drag-prepped Chevrolet Camaro against a Formula Drift-ready Toyota Corolla build.

The Replacement for Displacement?

As absurd as the competition might seem, it is. Professional drifters these days are limited only by their imaginations, with no real rules in place to prevent absurd builds from shredding tires while finding slow ways around circuits. In this case, the 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback belongs to Ryan Tuerck and has received a five-speed sequential gearbox from Papadakis Racing plus a hardcore turbo engine build that produces a claimed 950 horsepower in a car that weighs on 3,200 pounds.

The Camaro, meanwhile, belongs to one Darren Parsons and was built as more of a classic drag-racer with a massive intake atop the hood that feeds a naturally aspirated engine routing a claimed 850 horsepower to the rear wheels through the established drag favorite, a two-speed Powerglide transmission. The Camaro's curb weight matches the Corolla's, though it's safe to say they've both been built with different purposes in mind. Watch the video to see which car can keep enough to traction to eke out a win in this "This vs That" race.
