As the mainstream automotive industry struggles to regain its footing following coronavirus-related shutdowns and slowdowns, the enthusiast community has been having a blast on America's empty highways and byways (and earning speeding tickets at a record clip). And nobody appears to be having more fun than the Hoonigans, who continually release video content that's wild, hardcore, and without a doubt, entertaining. The latest installment comes in the form of another "This vs That" comparison between a Nissan 370Z Pro Drift build and a tuned Audi RS3. With radically different intentions, these cars come together in an apples-to-oranges competition that ends, of course, in an all-out drag race.

Built For Fun

As drifting has exploded, largely thanks to the Hoonigan's head honcho, Ken Block, drifting series have popped up and pro drift cars have been built that truly boggle the brain. With huge budgets, what used to be homemade projects have ballooned into examples like this 370Z, which is owned by Chris Forsberg and features an 1,100-horsepower twin-turbocharged and NOS-injected drivetrain purpose-built to shred rubber at the slightest tap of the accelerator pedal. That grunt is routed to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox and the entire car only weighs 2,750 pounds.

Meanwhile, the Audi RS3 is more of a sleeper build, with little more than some subtle aftermarket wheels to point to the modifications beneath its skin. The tuned turbocharged inline-five employs a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that sends a claimed 800 horses to all four wheels as built by Malaka Racing. But it also tips the scales at a hefty 3,400 pounds. Watch the video to see whether the Audi's all-wheel-drive traction can help overcome its power and weight disadvantages.
