Are electric vehicles only for adults? Kids have long been playing with electric motor-powered little cars. Hyundai Motor Company, which has been teasing us with concept EVs such as the Prophecy, is taking these toys to a whole new level by creating a mini EV. To provide a glimpse of its smallest EV yet, Hyundai uploaded a YouTube video showing how it was constructed.

Based On Its Hyundai 45 Concept

Hyundai has yet to reveal the name of its smallest EV so far, but it's very apparent that it heavily takes on one of the South Korean carmaker's much-appreciated concept EVs, which is in turn inspired by the 1974 Pony Coupe Concept. Unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Hyundai 45 was picked as the Best Concept Car of the Year by the Wallpaper Magazine .

Just like the EV concept it was based on, Hyundai's new mini EV features a square frame, angular profile, and a smooth exterior marked by a diamond-shaped silhouette. Just like the Hyundai 45 concept, the EV features a 45 degree windshield. It also features the signature kinetic cube lamp design of the Hyundai 45.

Faster Than A Walking Adult

Wrapped in a Performance Blue exterior color finish with orange accents, this still unnamed Hyundai mini EV owes its propulsion power to two dynamic DC motors. It’s not a slow EV as it could go as fast as 4.3 miles per hour (7 km/h), which is faster than the average walking speed of an adult human.

Interestingly, the driver of this mini EV will be accommodated in a seat placed in the middle of the car just like in motorsports for a better and more balanced view of the surroundings ahead. As per Hyundai, this mini EV doesn't  have an officially rated driving range yet, although it features the so-called Emotion Adaptive Vehicle Control (EAVC) technology.
