Thanks to the ever-present Drag Racing And Car Stuff YouTube channel, there’s another drag race with something for everyone, including a surprise entry: a truck.

It’s not surprising in itself, there are many drag races on YouTube featuring trucks of different calibers, but what happens when the light goes green is the interesting part.

Going against the big black truck this time is a pair of cars; a black fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro and a Shelby GT500, both fine cars, and ones which should be within a shout of beating the heavier utilitarian Dodge Ram in a straight race.

The Modified Dodge Ram Is Definitely Not Stock

It’s evening down at the strip and the cars warm their tires – this fourth-generation Dodge Ram looks menacing, in all black, with the big wheels, parachute up back and the sound it’s making.

Clearly, this is a modified vehicle, with ‘392’ on the side being the only clue as to what cubic capacity the engine might be: this 6.4-liter motor could have any number of extra modifications included.

With a power figure supposedly higher than the 410 hp and 429 lb-ft with which it leaves the factory and a potentially lightened body, this truck should be competitive against a stock-looking fourth-generation Camaro which at best is using a 5.7-liter V8 with up to 330 hp, but it still could be lighter.

The Camaro makes a quicker reaction time but the Dodge Ram hilariously jumps ahead in an incredibly short distance, keeping it until the end and making a 10:71 time at 125 mph, against a 13:05 at 107 mph for the Chevrolet.

Next, the Shelby GT500 – which looks stock and unmodified – takes its place next to the Ram truck. This is a much newer and more-powerful car than the Camaro, so the Dodge Ram will have a chance to prove how much power really is under that big hood.

As standard, the Shelby GT500 Mustang hides a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with Challenger Hellcat-like levels of power and torque – 760 hp and 625 lb-ft – it’s got a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which should see a quick start with equally quick changes through the box.

Even so, the Dodge Ram makes a faster start than the white Mustang, going on to out-accelerate its rival and maintain a lead the whole way; it’s one quick Ram truck, that’s for sure.

The times prove it too: 10:63 at 126 mph for the Ram vs 10:75 at 130 mph for the Shelby GT500, so the truck wins, although it looks like the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was getting into its element in the higher end.
