One of the greatest joys in driving is when you can go as fast as your car can go. This is especially true if you own a high-speed supercar like a Ford GT. To do that, you might need to drive on a stretch of road where there is no speed limit. Famous British car vlogger and YouTuber Tim Burton – also known as Shmee150 – was able to do that with his beloved Ford GT on the German Autobahn. Let’s watch Shmee's adrenaline-filled drive.

The Ford GT is by no means an ordinary car. It isn't just fast, but it is really fast. A Ford GT is designed to achieve a top speed of 216 miles per hour (348 km/h), especially if the V-Max mode is engaged. The Ford GT is also extremely quick, as it can dash from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

This performance is made possible by a number of factors, including its powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 engine delivering 647 hp of max output and 550 lb.-ft. of peak torque. However, newer models now boast up to 660 hp. This dynamic mill is backed by its speed-focused design, superior aerodynamics as well as its very favorable power-to-weight ratio.

Off To A 202-MPH Autobahn Run

After bringing his 656-hp Ford GT to race tracks such as Silverstone, Nurburgring and Hockenheim, Shmee150 took his supercar to the German Autobahn, which features a no-speed-limit section. Shmee150 hoped to join a select group of drivers and cars that were able to reach 200 mph on the Autobahn.

Selecting the V-MAX mode, Shmee150 had several opportunities to drive his Ford GT beyond 200 mph, but had to slow down due to vehicles driving ahead. Nonetheless, Shmee150 found the window to strut the GT's potential and was able to easily surpass 200 mph. In fact, he was able to achieve a top speed of 202 mph.

While Shmee150 and his Ford GT achieved a new feat, things nearly didn’t go his way. Before his 202-mph run, the supercar was already running out of fuel -- down to just 1 km to empty. Thanks for the drive Tim, and HotCars will continue to cover your hot rides!
