The YouTuber known as Shmee150 lives a life that most gearheads can only dream about—and he went right ahead and wrote a book about it, too! But Shmee's real contribution to the internet has been the huge quantity of videos he posts featuring his incredible cars, which he actually drives rather than just leaving them to look pretty in his garage. Last month, Shmee (real name Tim Burton—no wonder he needed a new moniker) took his McLaren Senna for a tour of Continental Europe for some racing events, joined a Koenigsegg meetup, and now he's taken in Aston Martin Vantage GT8 to the famed Nürbrugring to film some aggressive driving.
Turn Up The Sound
The GT8 is a hardcore track version of the V8 Vantage, employing the same 4.7-liter powerplant under the hood but with about 220 pounds of weight savings and revised tuning that boosts output to 440 horsepower. Only 150 were ever built and Shmee's was one that was optioned with the manual transmission, rather than the seven-speed automated manual.
Check Your Tire Pressure
Shmee's GT8 features titanium exhaust, so the 'Ring is a perfect place to hear Aston's beastly V8 sing its guttural song. The great part about a luxurious track scalpel like the GT8 is that Shmee can drive it to and from the track without being concerned about legality, though he does prep the car by deflating tires after having them a bit overinflated for the Autobahn.
Concerns Turn To Joy
Shmee also points out that the extended front splitter on his GT8, a carbon fiber unit, could present problems during the hard cornering as he flies over the famed Carousel portion of the track. But the sounds and the stick shift as he paces and then passes the likes of a Lotus and a Cayman certainly bring a smile to this supercar expert's face.
