After having his first drive of new speed-hungry cars such as the McLaren 765LT and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, Shmee150 (or Tim Burton) is now back on the racetracks. This time, he's behind the wheel of a new hypercar that's just as powerful as the 765LT and GT Black Series supercars combined – the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport.
Fast Versus Quick Chiron
The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is quite a different beast from the Chiron Super Sport 300+. While both have the same core – an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine – the Pur Sport is quicker with a focus on handling and acceleration, while the Super Sport 300+ is faster targeting the greatest top speed.
Compared to the Chiron, the Pur Sport has a stiffer chassis – by 65 percent at the front and 33 percent at the rear. Its wheel camber setting and aero components have also been configured for greater levels of agility. It's transmission ratios are also shorter by 15 percent. As a result, the Pur Sport accelerates quicker than its siblings when exiting corners, but can only go as fast as 208 mph (350 km/h).
Built For Corners
Bugatti invited Shmee150 to experience what it feels like behind the wheel of the Chiron Pur Sport. Bugatti picked the most suitable circuit to unleash the true capability of the Pur Sport – Bilster Berg in Germany. This 2.61-mile circuit features a highly technical racetrack with 19 corners to attack. Shmee150 might not reach the hypercar's top speed, but he's able to assess its quickness especially after exiting a corner.
For a better comparison, Bugatti also brought a Chiron Sport. Shmee150 was able to notice the differences concerning in-gear acceleration. He noted that the Pur Sport was livelier yet more controllable and enjoyable when tackling the corners of Bilster Berg. Of course, when the straights come in, the Pur Sport could almost immediately pick up speed.
Other Spectrum Of Performance
The 1,500-hp Pur Sport belongs to the other spectrum of Chiron-level performance. It's still a monster despite the lower top speed, but the added control is an irresistible temptation. Maybe that's why Shmee150 was all smiles after driving the Pur Sport.
