Whatever Snoop Dogg wants, Snoop Dogg gets. Hip-hop's answer to Cheech and Chong has an appetite for restored classic cars and whenever he gets a four-wheel fix, he usually enlists the help of YouTuber CaliBoy to find the ride of choice. On his 49th birthday on October 20, he splurged on an old Cordoba. But this time around, in a video unleashed on Tuesday, Dogg went all out on a Chevy El Camino cruck and a 1957 Bel-Air.

What Year Was It?

CaliBoy, always willing to help the legendary rapper, seems to know his cars, but he's not always big on details. For openers, it took some sleuthing to figure out what year this El Camino came out. Thanks to some heavy-duty sleuthing, a few clues popped up.

This cruck features horizontally-positioned headlights bookending the grille with additional indicators on the side panels, which first appeared on the 1982 models. It also sported a G platform, reintroduced by GM for all its mid-size vehicles in 1982. And the big giveaway was the V8 engine, which was last seen in an El Camino in – you guessed it–  1982.

Heavy-Duty Clean

According to Caliboy, not much was done to this El Camino other than a heavy-duty clean and a brand-new paint job. Snoop seemed to dig the heavy-duty sound system as he sat in the interior listening to tunes before taking the cruck out for a casual spin.

When he came back, it was all thumbs-up. The ride was fly. "For sure," he muttered, once he learned how to master the remote starter. Done deal. The El Camino was good as off the lot. It might be a cool acquisition for Snoop, but it's also an investment into history as the unique sedan-pickup hybrid was discontinued by GM in 1987. And while the car world clamors for an El Camino comeback, it's not likely to happen.

The Bel-Air Comes Later

Snoop left behind his other acquisition, a customized 1957 Chevy Bel-Air with all the novelties that the celeb would want. His name's personalized on the interior as well as on the engine in this nifty set of wheels that he's sure to pick up later.
